ESPN2 Crew

The thing is, regardless of these lackluster announcers, if you tuned in to watch this and did not have a dog in the fight you would have found it to be a very entertaining football game. It's a rivalry that even neutral non-Iowans can get and was loaded with some good plays that would have keep an impartial football fan engaged. Was not a humiliating blowout and was not some boring 16-10 punt fest.

I like Bennetti and his story. Hes a pretty dang good announcer, IMO, and I dont think he was bad yesterday at all. That Kelley guy on the other hand was , and his voice just sounded like a 14 year old whining girl.

Bennetti is a pro an he actually told a story about the spitball that I'd never heard. I just thought he went for the storylines a little too hard. He was miles ahead of the analyst, who thinks volume equals authority. I was surprised to find out he was a former QB. Sounded like more of a middle linebacker.

He threw a couple Parks in there as well for good measure. I don't understand it. Park is incredibly easy to remember. These guys prepare all week. How do you screw up the quarterback's very basic name?

My last name is Park (no relation to Jacob) and I get Parks and Parker quite a bit.. Even got Spark and Clark couple times.

I also can't stand when they cut away to show a 1-play highlight of another game in between a 2nd and 3rd down play during another game. Cant they cut in 10 seconds early before or after a commercial. I think once or twice we missed the beginning of a play because they were showing some worthless Louisville highlight.

I think I commented during in-game thread about a cut-away like that (might be same one you referenced) .. ISU was going hurry-up at that point, already broke huddle and they did an in-game update. Missed the live play almost entirely.

I thought I was listening to Dan Dakich for a while--same obnoxious voice. And somebody needed to provide a napkin for all their slobbering over the overrated offensive line of Iowa. I swear, if I hear Joe freakin' Moore award one more time... Biggest joke ever.

A quick google of Kelly Stouffer reveals that he is from Nebraska (not surprising), and married for about 30 years (a little surprising).

He is maybe the worst color guy I've ever heard.

Do you think Jacob park is taking too much time on his throws? They only mentioned it 37 times.

I've heard worse tandems, but repetitious. Park-throwing late was valid observation on some occasions. It wasn't any better w/ Iowa — how many times did we hear about what's-his-name not catching a pass/fumbling vs. Wyoming? Seemed like a reflection of minimal pregame research. I assume ESPN didn't squander a lot of resources for game-prep with that crew.

When blood started trickling out my ears watching the replay this same thought crossed my mind. Thought he had been a journeyman backup, but all he had was a cup of coffee with the Seahawks in the late 80's, although he was the 6th overall pick in the NFL draft in 86 or 87.

Did anyone else have hardly any crowd noise? Almost like they didn't have any mics in the stadium.

I noticed this too. Was like a local high school broadcast.

I have a bad TV so thought that was the issue but now I know it's just ESPN sucking.

I live out of state and many of my friends here couldn't give a **** less about Iowa or Iowa State. I received multiple texts talking about how good of a game it was. Jack Trice looked phenomenal.

Best/most interesting game I watched all day.

That's what the best or good announcers do. What makes you think these guys did more than some minimal prep and read some notes on ISU/Iowa anecdotes over breakfast. ;)
I think the real announcers were stuck in Florida......these guys just happened to be staying at a nearby Holiday Inn Express. F Iowa, F these announcers.
