Thy literally don't have a voice. They can kick and scream all they want but it won't move the needle. The only way the format changes if you have an SEC or B1G team snubbed a couple times. Part of the problem is that the first round of the playoffs haven't been all that competitive either. Honestly, my biggest beef with the current format is that I hate that teams get almost a month to scheme and prepare for the playoff game. If you go o to 8 teams and have the first round starts the weekend after the conf championships, I can guarantee there will be some upsets and damn it would be fun to see.

The only people who give two ***** about FPI are people at ESPN. All ESPN cares about when it comes to us is we're a historically irrelevant team and we're a Big 12 team not named Oklahoma or Texas. Therefore we could be 10-0 this year and ESPN would still be outraged that we are in the conversation. If their talking heads are questioning the validity of the quality the UT and OU wins with "who the hell did those two beat this year", then it wouldn't matter whether we're 8-2 or 10-0. At that point they don't want us in the conversation because we're not one of their precious self-picked blue bloods or token G5 teams.

Yup. At the end of the day losing to Louisiana will be our undoing, even if it's nowhere close to the bad loss today as it was when it happened. Hell, by the CFP ranking our loss to OSU is more damaging today than the loss to ULL. Doesn't matter - we were practically dead out of the gate this year. Sucks because none of us expected this is where we'd be right now.

Here’s one clue. When a reputable news source reaches out to a source that doesn’t response, they include a sentence that says “We reached out to So-And-So’s office for comment, but they didn’t respond”.

Even better was a few years ago when Ohio State got in over Penn State who beat them head up, won the division Ohio State plays in AND the conference they play in. But I guess the conference title for the Nittany Lions wasn’t as important that year. Just every year Ohio State wins it is it important enough.

The only thing Heather Dinich is "expert" at is running a felatio line in Columbus. I stopped reading her stuff on the ESPN site years ago because her takes were awful, and her takes on TV are nowhere near better.

Agreed. The perception of a sun belt team beating a P5 XII team will always be awful to most, even if they are ranked.

Well, considering I have a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State and spent two semesters writing for the Iowa State Daily (I don't know if that helps or hurts my argument) and interned at a TV station for my first 6 months out of college, I would say I have a pretty good idea of what a journalist should or should not be doing.

And for the record, usually when a reporter reaches out to a party that refuses to respond, they usually state that "they reached out to 'so and so' who is from 'so and so' and they refused to respond".

Or, they could play a respectable schedule before they win through all of their conference creampuffs. The only reason we jumped Cincy was because they hadn’t played anyone good.

Yes and no. I would argue that this year the committee made it pretty dang forgivable. Swap that loss with say a loss to Iowa and we still aren't ranked any higher.

The “same conditions”? Including having half their team out two weeks before game week because of COVID? I don’t think so.

Yes. And I got marked “Dumb” half a dozen times for saying so. Expanding the Playoff solves nothing.

Check the NCAA basketball playoff history for examples. Plus, college football has complications and implications for player health and safety that college basketball doesn’t.
