Enjoy the ride

I was disappointed, but not upset after the loss to OU last night. I guess my expectations for this season were so low, being 13-2 is awesome! Winning any road game in the conference will be a struggle. OU played well in the 2nd half, give them credit. Let's be better than Hawk fans and not blame the officials for this loss. They weren't great, but ISU didn't play well on both ends of the floor. I'm just happy to look forward to games again.

Don't be a *****.

Getting into the season enough to be upset of a collapse leading to a loss IS ENJOYING THE RIDE.

If you have to reference 2-22 to whitewash your emotions away, it is you that is not in the present. Stop projecting your inability to enjoy the season.
Trust me I’m into every game too much probably where I continue to gray my hair even more. I’ve broke many remotes over my time as a cyclone fan. I do get upset but starting to really understand our team more now and most nights we just aren’t that good offensively. Defensively we’re another level. But putting the last couple of years into perspective allows you to more sit back and take it how it comes. Just like in football. Because of the expectations I personally expected in football it made the season very un enjoyable. I don’t want to do that in basketball too

You do understand they are going to lose more games? And none of them will have anything to do with last year.......the year before.....Fred....GMAC.....Wayne......LE....Tim or Johnny. This is a brand new season, with a different team and a different coach. They have been together for only 15 games and are 13-2. It's up to you.......but I'm excited to see how the season plays out win or lose. And I'm of the camp it will be more winning than losing. I didn't listen to Pollard's dry begging for patience last spring and from the looks of it.......neither did TJ or the team. So let your hair down and have some fun. It's just a game.

By the way.....the 2013-14 team's first loss was at OU. They went on to lose their next 3 of 4...............then went on and finished the season out 28-8. Not bad.

Sounds like a you thing.
Moderating (lowering) your expectations in order to handle your emotions may be for you, but that is not enjoying the ride. It is not getting on.

You sure that last line isn’t referring to yourself? You seem unnecessarily angry…

I expect almost every one in the Big 12 (or at least 6-8 teams) will hover between the 7-11 and 11-7 record. Winning on the road is going to be *that* tough. Texas Tech did it to KU. Oklahoma State did it to Texas. TCU gave Baylor all they had. Losing against Oklahoma, who is good (and had some help...) on the road is nothing to be ashamed of. The fact we thought we were going to win for so long shows that this team is great. I'm having a blast with the ride so far and look forward to a feisty Tuesday against KU.

Yep. In the Big 12 this year, road games are going to be expected losses for almost everyone. You hope to steal a couple, and protect home court as well as you can. The only thing that stings about yesterday is that they were playing extremely well, and then it just went sharply south at the end. They'll learn and grow from it.

In terms of stealing some, basically hope for TCU and whoever is 8th and 9th, and be extra happy if any other ones happen.

I’m personally not using last year to rationalize how well we do this year. I’m using the fact that we have a brand new head coach with like a 90% new roster. We’ve completely overplayed how anyone thought we’d be, but we’ve also proven we belong. We hung with the #1 team better than anyone else has. We beat a Tech team that just handled KU. We had the lead on the road over a soon to be rated OU team and we probably should’ve won.

Because of that I’m going to be upset when we lose or play poorly, but I’m also going to be mindful that we’re a brand new team with some limitations playing in the best conference in CBB.

Survive the gauntlet by protecting Hilton, steal a couple on the road and snag one in Kansas City. Do that and we’ll no doubt punch a ticket to the tournament.
