Enjoy the ride

A lot of people here have quickly forgot we went 2-22 last year and the misery in the last two years. I also get frustrated with our offense but don’t forget where we’ve been the last couple of years and enjoy the ride
Agree 100.%
this team is not perfect. There will be ups and downs.
Strangely, it was our defensive second half collapse that did us in against ou

To be honest I think most everyone is enjoying the ride and I am extremely proud of the way the CF fanbase in particular handled last nights loss. Up 11 with 12 minutes to go, and then to lose by double digits, I expected to come here and see yet another full out meltdown. Yet there are only 2 threads created outside of the gameday thread, this one and one asking about the general worst offense in the league, neither of which was complaining about some random specific part of the game.

Well done CF for not going into full meltdown mode and creating threads for each thought that popped into your head on how the loss should be handled or reflect on a specific aspect of the game.

Go Clones!

Yep. In the Big 12 this year, road games are going to be expected losses for almost everyone. You hope to steal a couple, and protect home court as well as you can. The only thing that stings about yesterday is that they were playing extremely well, and then it just went sharply south at the end. They'll learn and grow from it.

For the first time in several years, I was nervous during a basketball game yesterday. That's a good feeling to have again. They played great. OU played as good a game as anyone all year has against us. Things just unraveled at the end and several of those last few buckets were just us knowing the game was over. We will likely lose at KU on Tuesday. Really need to get the one in Ames next Saturday against Texas.

(Reluctantly deletes the “Early Candidates to Replace TJ” thread I was working on)

Frankly, I don’t think anyone forgot we were 2-22 last year. They want us to win every game and when we don’t, some people get more upset than others.

It is okay to be frustrated that we were up 11 in the second half and lost by 11. It’s okay to be critical of the offense. You can do all of these things without being obnoxious.

But to say that no one can be critical of this team or no one can be frustrated by losses because this team sucked last year is misguided.

No one is saying that. Go ahead and cry if you want to cry.

This team will give great effort every game and keep at it.

The question coming out of early season success was whether or not they could sustain it with the talent at hand and the next few weeks may provide that answer.

If don't think sustaining it will be the problem. After that slugfest in Ames TTU didn't seem affected with only 7 players against KU yesterday. When you run into a good team where everyone is hitting open shots this will happen. ISU is 13-2 and has yet to have everyone "on" in a game yet. And like I said in the game thread the 13/14 team after going 14-0 lost their next 4 of 5......2 against KU with 1 against both UT and OU. Stuff happens.....they'll be okay.

Its impressive we made almost half the season before these posts started. The restraint that has been shown for the last 6 weeks was mind bending

glad you could break the seal

Yes with TTU's athleticism, sustaining things is more reasonable. They only played 7 Wednesday but only played 8 yesterday and I think that's a pretty common practice for many teams.

The narrative the last two games is 'ISU will wear this team down in the 2nd half' and that didn't happen, and last night it was ISU wearing down. Can they keep from doing that as games pile up?

I'm curious to see if ISU tweaks their defensive approach a bit; the rotations haven't been as crisp as teams have started to find the openings.

To me, it reminds me of why NBA defenses really tighten up in the playoffs. Winning through the defensive end is really hard, and not just because defense is hard but because it takes a lot of energy to do it game in and game out. Being great on D is pretty clearly the best gameplan for this team but it really shouldn't shock anyone if teams go on a few more runs like OU did last night as the season wears on. It's just tough to maintain that level of energy and especially that level of precision on the defensive end when you're playing talented teams a few nights each week.

Don't be a *****.

Getting into the season enough to be upset of a collapse leading to a loss IS ENJOYING THE RIDE.

If you have to reference 2-22 to whitewash your emotions away, it is you that is not in the present. Stop projecting your inability to enjoy the season.
