Maybe this is why Walgreens is kicking Osco's behind so badly. No business can afford to lose money in perpetuity just so that their competitor loses money too.

Malou has to be a player that Self sees as scholarship worthy for him to offer. Why did Self not try to swoop in and pick up Soloman Young at the last minute if he's just out to undercut ISU?
Malou has a bigger impact.

No, I'm implying that teams like KU and UK have far more evidence to point to regarding the NBA (particularly big men), than ISU does. It doesn't make it true, but the fact that we have to point to theoretical examples, and they can point to actual examples, year after year, is a big selling point.

Also, I'm implying that "becoming a college legend" apparently is not that important to recruits, or we would land more 5 stars.

Here is the bottom line… A winner looks at adversity the way a lion looks at lunch and out of adversity comes opportunity! You can bet your bottom dollar that Prohm and staff are winners! They have unique personality traits including, but not limited to, perseverance, positive passion, fully focused intensity and a burning will to win. I am a realist as well, but anytime I read the negative comments on CF, I can always tell life’s winners from the life’s losers. So, my advice is to have a little faith!!! This program will get where it needs to go! Life will always have those who lose the battle before it is every fought. I’m just not one of them.

Ok, that's great, and I'm not saying anything about Prohm so I'm not sure where you got that from. Nor am I saying we won't get Malou, because frankly we are a better situation than KU is for a juco recruit, IMO.

With that said, the whole "become a Cyclone legend instead of just another Jayhawk" crap doesn't usually work out that way in the real world.

He's busy with cliches and platitudes. Gotta just let that guy roll.

It sure can! In our football history did you know the very reason the great Troy Davis committed to Iowa State after being heavily recruited by many big schools is: "My goal was I wanted to go to a school that hadn’t been known and make them known." Read his exact words on that in this interview: http://www.iowastatedaily.com/sports/football/article_7cb8f8b2-1016-11e3-99e6-001a4bcf887a.html

So there is a few.

Some of it may be making the best of things in hindsight, but yeah there are some.

He also said that he was excited to see snow for the first time and was excited to play in it - from a Florida kid!

I think the real reason Troy Davis ended up at ISU is that no one in Florida or the South thought he would qualify. ISU stuck with him and got him. The rest is just a happy spin 20 years later.
