She's not shown as much as you allege. Most articles I found said she was on air for less than a minute the ENTIRE game. But if that ruins your viewing experience, I guess that's a you problem. Also, it's not like she's asking the cameras to focus on her, but it's proven to be good for their ratings, so ... again, that's a you problem.

Complaining about seeing Taylor Swift for 1 minutes per game vs 20 minutes of trucks, beer and prescription medications I should talk to my doctor about each is quite a take.

When I worked at Iowa state center, some that stuck out. Steve Miller bought pizza and beer for us after the show. Lead singer of Loverboy came back stage and actually talked to me for a bit while they were performing. Had to make himself some tea or hot chocolate, can’t remember.

Trisha yearwood wouldn’t leave her bus or deal with anybody, straight in and out to the bus. Aerosmith was very nice to me in early 90s. Assigned to Steven Tyler and he would joke around with me. Willie Nelson gave us ponchos because he felt bad that it was raining on us during farm aid.

Alice In Chains was NASTY. The worst in my memory.

What sticks out right away.
Worked on tech shows at the Dome/McLeod in college.

Kenny Chesney-awesome guy. Approachable, friendly, bought everybody pizza, tacos and beer after the show.

Bob Dylan- completely aloof, just kind of a really weird guy with really weird people around him.

Martina McBride- Super friendly and her band was great and easy to work with.

Toby Keith (RIP)- You'd never know the guy was a star. Down to earth, funny, friendly as can be and appreciative of everything everyone did.

Fleetwood Mac- I hope Stevie Nicks gets hit by a bus. Mean, standoffish, arrogant, vulgar. Absolutely lost her **** when a kid had the audacity to look at her while he was running mic cord. Her, or someone on her team, absolutely trashed the room she was using.

Larry the Cable Guy- Good dude. Quiet. Lots of nervous energy.

Interesting stuff. Always like hearing behind-the-scenes insights like this.

Sorry but that's not how big music works. She may have made some lyrical changes and yes sometimes I'm sure she has her input but when the song is produced by the two guys that 'co-wrote' the song, it was made for her. That's her most listened to song on YouTube music.

Rick Beato, a big time producer addressed this on his YouTube but I can't find it off hand or I'd post it. I'll see if I can find later.

Written and produced are not the same thing. You said Taylor Swift doesn't write her own songs. This is false.

Lol. It literally has them accredited as writers. Watch that video and open your eyes friend.

She has written some songs along with other people. I didn't claim otherwise. She is listed as a co-writer for those songs. This isn't hidden. Many others, however she is the sole writer.

You said she doesn't write her own songs, without qualification.

No I didn't actually. I said she uses writers like everyone else. You're the one making the absolute statements to satisfy some purity vision you have of her.

I have met a few musicians and they were all very nice and cordial. I have met:

Ann and Nancy Wilson
Everyone in Def Leppard
Don Dokken
All members of Slaughter
Rik Emmett and Gil Moore of Triumph (shared great tour stories)

In a truly historic context, Rihanna will be less remembered than the others. Other than her, the performers have timeless music, performances and video to represent their place in posterity.

I met and got to hang out a little with Larry Flynt once. He was awesome. Carry on.

I just want to say, I chose Rihanna because, like Taylor Swift, she presents music of her time, they are very close, but I believe Americans will validate Taylor before Rihanna. She is, in the final analysis, Not American.

You aren’t going to remember her being 8.9 months pregnant doing the Super Bowl?

Taylor Swift. I’m so sick and tired of her. Get her out of here.

Yep. I also am not a Mariah fan, but she's got an undeniable crazy voice and has had some huge hits. I don't want to be diminutive of her cultural impact or anything, but Taylor's songs all sound similar to me.

Beyonce is incredible, as a talent. But I am not at all shocked to hear that @cytor mentioned she's awful - big diva vibes there. I don't think she lives on the same planet we do, you know? But I still will listen to anything on Lemonade or Cowboy Carter or similar. And pop really isn't my thing.

Listening to the Odd Couple on the radio.
They brought up the top 5 female selling artists of all time. One has to go, who is it?
Are we doing this based on recent stuff? During their prime only? Overall history?

Overall I’d get rid of Rhianna. I like her stuff but she doesn’t have the history of the others in my opinion.

Funny, I was talking tonight with someone about how much I have always liked Madonna. The others are all meh to me.

But none of the others have this song:

What most are thinking. Yeah it's a nice song but it's sold with the female artist naked in a tub with lots of shots intentionally where you can almost see something.

I'll pass.
But I’d counter by pointing out that Madonna doesn’t even have a nice song.

She is what Samantha Fox would be if you traded the Page 3 pics for more of the same.

Fair enough. But my response to the question in the OP was, "I can only pick one?"

Just because I suggest that one artist isn't for me on the list doesn't mean that all of the others are.

I'll also point out that Madonna was a backup dancer who eventually made a name for herself as a singer. I don't think she is a technically great singer, but she did all right for herself. Mrs. Velo is/was a fan, but not me.
