I rarely agree with you but Niang is going to be the focus of the other team's attention and it could get rough.

Yep. I don't think we can get away with Hogue at the 4 and Niang at the 5. I could be wrong though. Niang is going to get attacked down low like crazy.
Edozie or Gibson are going to have to play a ton of minutes now IMO.
Agreed. If they don't get some of these early season games against quality competition, it is going to be very difficult to make the NCAA because it will be hard to rack up quality wins come B12 conference season. One, because the conference doesn't seem to be that good, and Two, because the good teams in the conference are going to be really good and will make it difficult for ISU to win in Hilton against them.
Agreed, this is what worries me. KU and OSU may be to strong to beat. We may be good enough to split with Baylor. But unlike last year, we can't pick up quality wins against OU and KSU, two teams that will be down this year. There will be very little chance to pick up quality wins in the Big 12. Fred has yet to prove he can have a team ready to win a big game in the pre conference, this year it is an absolute necessity, they have to get it done. Without a quality non conference win, no way we go to the NCAA's.
I bet he's back for the Auburn game. That's a realistic goal and it allows him to get his feet wet and get the rust off before the UNI and Iowa games.
I'd rather have big wins in March. Fred has yet to have a roster with a lot returning. Probably will always be that way but it doesn't lend itself to non-conference success. That is fine. Remember, the way the RPI is set up now losses to good teams are still weighted better than wins over crap. I think the 3 balls will be flying early.
This is a really tough break for the team but you have to feel for Melvin, just rotten luck to start out your senior season.
