Hope the intent is not to celebrate a HBP that caused fractures to the face/head? Not cool...love baseball and not a fan of either team but that is not good!

you do realize that the Cubs then hit two Red Sox (one for the Byrd HBP and one for Fukudome) throughout the next two games, right?

I know. The Cubs manager was acting like a little girl about it. It isn't like the guy hit Byrd intentionally. Then Kerry Wood plunks another Red Sox player the next night. I guess when you are a last place team like the Cubs... "the code" is all you have left.

Judging just from the look on the pitchers face, he didn't mean to hit him in the head.

I'm not celebrating this HBP as it was a comlplete accident and not something you ever want to see, but for the of sake argument Marlon Byrd also got beaned 2x in the first game of the series.

That guy leans into the plate just like Youkilis and is just going to get hit...hopefully not in the head again.

Just a little sarcasm is all. Cubs fans and their manager were acting like there was some kind of malicious intent towards Byrd. Thus the sarcasm in the thread title. Didn't figure :jimlad: was necessary.

Didn't look like he was over the plate when he got hit. I think the pitch just got away.

The guy has multiple facial fractures. What a classless post.

You missed the sarcasm obviously. Now if it was A-Rod that took one on the chin... the thread title would have been 100% serious. :jimlad:(Just to be safe.... wouldn't want you to miss the sarcasm again.)

tough titty said the kitty. If you are going to crowd then you are going to get hit, hopefully not in the face, but it is a mans game with insane amounts of money on the line.

Didn't look like he was crowding to me.

Even if you were being sarcastic, what is your point?

The way the Cubs handled it was pathetic. The manager and their fans got all hot and bothered over a pitch that was not intentional. They then intentionally hit several Boston players and at the end of the next game Kerry Wood came in and intentionally threw at a hitter. The first pitch was high and tight but missed the guy so then he turns around and throws at him again and plunked him on the next pitch. Quade was in the dugout ******* and moaning... Byrd crowds the plate and if you crowd the plate eventually a pitcher is going to lose a pitch high and tight and you are going to pay the price. It's baseball... it happens. Just wanted to see the reaction of baseball fans to the play and the sarcastic title to the thread was nothing more then a swipe at Cub fans and Quade for making a big deal out of a pitcher simply losing control of a pitch. It happens.
