I don’t want to be in a conference with any program that thinks it’s too good for the Pop Tarts Bowl.

We all understand CFB is the dumbest sport in existence. BYU 22-3 last two seasons (pre-B12 championship that "doesn't matter") with this year 11-1 only loss to Tech. That shouldn't need perception. ESPN gamed their metrics and BYU still earned it.Nope, because it had nothing to do with losing the championship game, they were out of the playoffs before the championship game. If they won they would have been in and the Big12 would have had two.
Until the big 12 gets a team that is reliably competing year after year it’s gonna be like this. Having teams win the big12 and then immediately fall off like TCU, ASU, is great for parity but isn’t good for league perception.
This is also why going to 12 teams or beyond is stupid. There are only around 4-6 teams each year that have a shot of winning the natty, when you expand it to 12 there just aren’t enough metrics beyond eye test and perception due to how few common opponents there are
ESPN FPI somehow has 6-6 Penn State ranked #17 in the country. 5-7 Auburn is #26 and 4-8 South Carolina is #32.We all understand CFB is the dumbest sport in existence. I don’t disagree with you, just the perception of the big12 after adding so many G5 teams isn’t good so those wins get discounted. It’s stupid and why the non con is so important as well as the playoffs. Hoping TT can beat Oregon and get some good momentum for you guysWe all understand CFB is the dumbest sport in existence. “So many G5 teams”? Houston had been a P5 until Texas disbanded the SWC. By your standards, then the perception of the Big 10 must be a big problem after adding Rutgers.I don’t disagree with you, just the perception of the big12 after adding so many G5 teams isn’t good so those wins get discounted. This is a very delayed response, but the question should be "does
Notre Dame want the big 12?"
Hey, you guys going to win championships with all that moolahOne million times this. Big ten would trip over themselves trying to add them as fast as possible.
Yeah and then they were a G5 team for 25 years, plus cinci, plus UCF, etc.“So many G5 teams”? Houston had been a P5 until Texas disbanded the SWC. By your standards, then the perception of the Big 10 must be a big problem after adding Rutgers.
No. Rutgers detracted from the Big 10 perception, a lot worse than UCF and CInci. Rutgers had no chance of getting a playoff bid from the Big East and they certainly are a terrible look for the Big 10. I would say, Rutgers hurt the Big 10 big time in perception.Yeah and then they were a G5 team for 25 years, plus cinci, plus UCF, etc.
Rutgers came from the big east but yeah they add nothing to the conferences perception

I think we're mostly agreeing but by "so many" you mean 4 out of 16. One of those 4 was Cinci who made a 4 team CFP. Another is BYU who needs no explanation. Houston and UCF not so much, though Houston had a couple good years this past decade. You go 11-0 and lose 1 game to the #4 team in the country in a P4 conference and its robbery regardless of perception. We need 5 SEC teams though.I don’t disagree with you, just the perception of the big12 after adding so many G5 teams isn’t good so those wins get discounted. Yeah man Rutgers is pretty awful at football, zero argument from me hereAnd the Big 12 was forced to do that after the traitors left. Big 10 was not forced to add Rutgers. At least the Big 12 added football schools. Cinci was ranked during the year. Has Rutgers ever been in the Big 10? Rutgers might have been a football school 125 years ago, but I don’t even know if they have an identity for any sport. Maybe Rugby.
16 would suck because it would just invalidate the regular season for a chunk of teams each year with how everything is currently set. There is more parody now with NIL and transfers. Last year the top 4 seeds all lost their first game. I say go to 16. No byes. Maybe even 24 with first round byes. That might actually allow Iowa and Michigan St to have a shot to get it.
Notre Dame makes more from their NBC deal than the rest of us do from all of our media partners.....the Big Ten has targeted them and if they don't join them, why would they join the Big 12?
