Might need to adjust our hyper aggressive traps that tend to lead to open 3 point looks for the other team. BYU will likely be the best 3 pt shooting team we play all year.

They had 10 points in the first 12 mins of the game against WV and still scored 77. They can score.
Think if we just play them straight up we will be fine, and this year we have been willing to do that when needed, I actually feel pretty good about it.

Particularly, byu is not very good defensively, and they don’t match up well at all defensively with our team. Prob high scoring, but I think they will really struggle to slow us down. Assuming we get the good effort and not the K state, ok state effort.

No pressure or anything, but this game is likely for a double bye and top 4 seed in KC. They aren't losing to Utah at home next weekend and they would have the tiebreaker I assume if BYU beats us head to head?

We win. Might have to play more small ball than normal, with JJ at the 5.

I think this is correct. We beat BYU and even if we lose to KSU we would have the Tie breaker over BYU. Lose to BYU book your rooms for wed.

When we had four games remaining (at OSU, AZ, BYU, KSU) as long as we went 2-2 with BYU one of those wins we are guaranteed a double bye. We got one last night and still holds true we have to beat BYU or it won't even matter if we beat KSU. Very very likely regardless if we are the 4 seed of 5 seed in KC we'd be playing BYU again (barring a loss on Wednesday in KC).

There is no question BYU is playing better right now. But it's also against pretty meh teams. WVU twice, KSU, ASU, a reeling Kansas team and a good win at Zona albeit huge helps from the refs. That Arizona win is their only win over a team currently ranked.

They can absolutely beat us but I think we win.

BYU's profile matches those teams were deemed not worthy because they didn't "play defense", great offensive metrics but meh defense.

Illinois and Pitt come to mind. Turns out it was our offense that was the issue not their defense. But this year's team is different we said. Now we have the offense to complement the defense the experts say.

I feel this game is going to tell us a lot about how this team is going to shape up the next few weeks.

Do we rise up and play the way we think the team should or will it be like the past? Bogged down by stagnant offense, plagued by mind numbing turnovers, Ole defense? Finally healthy do they put it together with gritty defense, perimeter threats open up the lanes and vice versa?

The 17 no’s should have to identify themselves.
BYU has been better as of late, but other than the AZ game, they have been abysmal on the road. ISU is currently the healthiest it’s been since the TTU? game. I smell a 13+ point, double bye clinching win

How's their free throw percentage? Arizona was on automatic. Scary.
305th in percentage and 294th in FT rate. So they don’t get to the line often and don’t make FTs when they do get there. However, they are 3rd in effective field goal percentage and 5th in efficiency. All BartTorvik numbers.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Jefferson at the 5, switch everything, no trapping. BYU doesn’t win with the post up game or by dribble penetration. They win with ball screens and ball movement. If you are able to switch on their screens, I think that will disrupt their whole offense.

I want to see a 12 or below turnover game from the Cyclones.. I obviously want to win, but want ball security to start improving fast, or there is no March run away from Hilton and Hilton South

My gut just does not trust this team to win 3 in a row to finish, so I think they go 1-1 until KC.. Just don't know which one they drop

Agree. Our rotations defensively have been poor all year compared to last. Fear that BYU will pick that apart and get wide open threes if we are not more selective with where/when/who we trap.

It probably isn’t 100% accurate but I feel like most teams are coming in hot, playing their best, and have a winning streak when they play us.
