Disclosure Day

Will probably be stopping at Devils Tower again in a few weeks so I should probably watch it again. It has been about 10 years since I watched it. I always love the progression from mashed potatoes to full living room sculpture.
I think it actually started with the shaving cream. ??

I just saw someone's all time ranking of his movies and they had Close Encounters in the THIRTIES. As in one of his five worst. I stopped watching after that.
I typically avoid rankings like that any more. Too often it's by someone in their mid-20s who is clueless and doesn't think anything in the world existed prior to the year 2000.

Fun Fact I learned this week about Spielberg.

Disclosure Day is his FIRST ORIGINAL MOVIE since E.T.

Think about that. ALL of his other movies in between the two are based on adapted content in one way or another. Pretty incredible.

Caveat: Some may say something like The Fabelmans is original. And it is...but it's based on real experiences of his own life.

That’s just insanity. Close Encounters is SO freaking good!

I love the more psychological “scary” movies that don’t have really any blood and gore etc that every movie seems to have nowadays.

Is Disclosure Day that way too…. I hope!

oh it's not bloody or gory or scary at all. thrilling and suspenseful and action scenes? you bet. it will be interesting to see what others on here think because it's about the hiding of history and trying to stop two individuals that know 'everything' from going public to the world. it's not a movie about aliens existing in general...it's about a coverup and humanity and treatment etc.

i honestly think it's a VERY similar movie and tone and message to Close Encounters. Lots of threads shared.

Disclosure Day was good. I'm surprised the opening weekend numbers weren't better. I had expected them to be about double what they were.
While Spielberg for many of us is a the greatest living director and he makes great films...it's been over 20 years since he's had what is considered a 'huge' box office success.

I wonder what a "good" opening weekend is for movies anymore. Now that we've all got 70" high definition screens with surround sound and a million viewing options, and the admission price to theaters is around $16.50, I would think the average attendance at theaters would be down significantly.

The last movie I saw in a theater was Oppenheimer. That said, I am gonna try to see Disclosure at the theater sometime soon.

The trailers have me confused as to what it is about. I've read what it is supposed to be about, but the trailers I've seen do not send me that message.

I thought the movie was way too predictable and very boring. I couldn't wait for the movie to end. Everybody else thought the same thing.
