When Spielberg is on, he makes some of the best blockbusters in history. His sci fi movies are also top tier.

Disclosure Day is top tier Spielberg. Holy cow. It’s like a cross between Close Encounters and Minority Report.

I was excited to see this but wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it is. Oscar winning or noms? Not sure but great movies are made that don’t get those awards. Blunt deserves a nom. Never been better.

Highly recommend.

Can't wait to see it.

Close Encounters is one of the movies that I make it a point to watch at least once every summer. It's a warm weather movie and such a classic.

An Alamo theater here in Omaha played close encounters a few years ago. It was so awesome to see it on the big screen as it's such a classic "movie theater" movie. Hope this one lives up to it like OP said.

It's a far cry from Close Encounters, but a few years ago Jordan Creek in DSM was screening On Golden Pond for its anniversary. That's always been a favorite of mine and the cinematography is as good as it gets, was awesome seeing it on the big screen.

I dunno...it's 100% recency bias since I just saw it, but I looked at the group I went with at the end and was 'that's top tier Spielberg...like top 10 for sure'. And several in our group were blown away and wanted to just go immediately and watch it again because there's so many things you'll see the second time around that will make the whole experience better.

He just makes great, entertaining movies. That's what people like about the movies as well as to think and be moved. This hits all those.

The kid in the farmhouse scene in Close Encounters always gives me the heebie jeebies. Because I've been outside by the corn, with the wind blowing, with no one around at night, and you feel like there is NO ONE around but somehow someone is watching.

Also my daughter NEVER misses a chance to sculpt her potatoes (or anything similar) and say "this means something". She is 30.

I'm super excited for this movie. Spielberg has moved me so many times in my life; E.T., Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Catch Me If You Can, Munich, The Goonies, Hook ... And I could keep going. It's honestly absurd.

Edit: Plus I have the mega hots for Emily Blunt. Such a talented actress too.

Wife showed me the trailer a while back and we were both kind of blown away by how good it looked. Agree, Spielberg is a gift.

This will probably be John Williams last film. I think he might be my favorite musical artist of all time. Brilliant composer.
