Sorry, didn't mean to repeat issues that were already discussed in this thread. I actually hope the Ducks will be at "full strength". Article also was linked with a video of Coach Cristobal stating that "Oregon never considered opting out of the bowl game". Total respect for him. It will be a battle of 2 passionate coaches. Go Cyclones (& Coach Campbell!)

They will absolutely be at 100%. It’s our curse that every team we play, we play at 100% health, even if it’s the only game that season they’re fully healthy.
Crazy year. I think some teams and players are just tired, tired of being so careful, being in the bubble. USC case in point, others.
On a normal year, yes maybe some incentives might be considered. Could you possibly keep some of the better players from opting out of Bowl games if there were some $$ incentives for that school? Maybe. For the player? Doubtful it would happen or be big enough to out weigh risk of playing for some players, but still.
Interesting to also read that some teams don't make much of a profit or maybe even lose money by participating in a Bowl game. Well to me it looks like they could sure cut some of their lavish expenses? Again some incentives could be considered to do so. The more net profit the school or conference makes, some of that comes back to the participating school, team, players, coaches.
Ghastly to think some free market incentives really might or could work. Maybe they would help money from just getting wastefully spent?
Yeah this year's a total crapshoot but to me if something doesn't change college football's going to look like college basketball where you have a bunch of teams that spend half of each season figuring it out. Basketball is a season to season thing but in football it feels like players will start opting out earlier and earlier as soon as it's clear that the team isn't in the running for a championship.
I think we're going to absolutely lose money by going to this game because we have to share the revenue so it's Oregon and Colorado's bowl earnings getting split 12 ways. No chance to sell tickets to make up for travel costs but the team also isn't down in AZ for as long as a normal bowl game or bringing the band, etc.
All of the players will get the new PS5 as part of the "gift" package.
ISU tried that once by having the band use busses. They were forced to pay for planes.
In the Big XII, before the money is put into the pot to be equally shared by the conference, a travel allowance is given to the team. The conference also buys out any unsold tickets before the split.
Typically, the biggest money loser is getting stuck with a bunch of crappy seats to sell on short notice when fans can go on the open market and get better seats for less money.
The Big XII finally figured out our athletes compete on the field and courts but we are business partners in the board rooms. We came out of the realignment meltdown a lot stronger and healthier conference.
I’m not sure where the other dude got losing money for this game, the travel expenses and so forth are reimbursed. The only way to lose money is when a team doesn’t sell their allotted bowl tickets. This game is worth $66 million to the Pac-12 as their automatic NY6 game, and an additional $4 million from the Fiesta Bowl. That $66m is split 13 ways (conference office gets a share) and Oregon gets to recoup any expenses out of the $4m.

I graduated ISU undergrad and then Stanford for grad school in EE. It was nice being on a campus with Palm Trees. I've been all over the world since, but my heart is still in Ames and secondly Palo Alto.
I attended Stanford during the John Elway years and he was the only thing Stanford had on their football team. In 82 we beat Washington when they were #1 and lost to Cal because our trombones couldn't tackle. I don't think we even played Oregon in 82! Did Oregon have a football team then?

I hope you’re right, but I doubt that all of the listed guys will play. The RT would be the most important, he can be a monster in the run game and I’m worried about ISU’s good edge rushers.
CJ Verdell, the main RB, is always hurt or doubtful and not nearly as consistent as Breece Hall.
He and Hall have very similar numbers after their first two years:
Hall: 433 carries, 2333 yards, 5.4 YPC, 422 receiving yards
Verdell: 399 carries, 2238 yards, 5.6 YPC, 440 receiving yards
**** it, tell them to bring it. I feel like fighting today. Let them get some shots in before we ban them.
Campbell is doing a great job at ISU and no doubt will continue. It's a great story, one to be admired.
