Oregon has a nice a young team, they should run through the Pac 12 next year and be fun to watch.
Oregon definitely shot itself in the foot a few times, but the points off turnovers didn't make up for the point difference or total clock domination. I didn't feel that ISU played a great game compared to some other games we've played but I'll take it. For the most part, that was very disciplined game from ISU, and a bit conservative with the clock management. Just dominated on that.
No mistake - Oregon is a young team, but you can see how much talent is there. I'll be interested to see next season with them. I'll bet they're very good next season... you can just tell. Their defense got a little better in the 2nd half and they had the offense really clicking at times in the 1st half.

Experience won the game for the Cyclones. I don't think Oregon needs anything but time to be a very good football team again.
The ABC computer created by Atanasoff and Berry was the first digital computer created just prior to WWII. Atanasoff was sent to war and left instructions to have the computer patented with his secretary. The secretary forgot and someone else got the credit after having visited Atanasoff before he went to war. Here is a nice Wikipedia article on it:

Yup. Not to sidetrack things but just in case these people don't actually know - the replica of this machine (built by ISU professors including John Gustafson who became Director of Intel Research after his ISU tenure) was at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA for about a decade until recently. There is an obscure documentary about Atanasoff on YouTube and it even has Steven Wozniak in it imparting his knowledge about this.
It is a little known fact but the ABC is the first digital electric computer built and yes it was built at Iowa State University. Atanasoff had some grad students under him dealing with some complex systems of equations. They were having trouble so he kind of devised a way to do this. He had some blocks for a long time in figuring it out even though he had a grant to build it, so he proceeded to drive to the Illinois-Iowa border and get **** faced at a road house there. It was then, drunk, that he thought of a way to actually make it a reality.
There was a court case in the 1970s - Honeywell vs. Sperry Rand - and during that the ABC was basically re-discovered. The ENIAC patents were invalidated because they found out they took a bit of the architecture directly from the ABC. One of the main guys for the ENIAC actually visited John Atanasoff and stayed over at his house a few times. If that court case did not go as it did, who controls the computing industry would have looked VERY different. It is simply one of the most important court cases in modern history and most people do not realize. It basically invalidated the patent for a computer, opening up development to pretty much anybody without fear of being sued over making their own computers. Even Steve Wozniak in the documentary I mentioned talks about how it's the most important court case of the 20th century that nobody knows about.

I will be honest, i know very little about University of Oregon.
They way you talk about it I figure it was probably some hot bed for Astronauts or patents or something, you know, those things universities do.

Defense was behind in the first half and offense stalled in the 3rd quarter but outside of that it was maybe the most well executed ISU game I've watched vs. a quality opponent especially as ISU got some stops in the 2nd half.
Also except for one leaky kick off return they were solid on special teams.
Old school style to play defense with methodical offense.

Thanks for having us! Congrats on the win. I can’t be too upset, your players brought the fire and your coaches brought a solid game plan while ours didn’t do either. The more deserving team definitely won, and I’ve only had to admit that three or so times during Cristobal’s three years as head coach.
The first half defense for ISU was pretty bad, for the most part, and not up to par I felt with our standard. Controlling the clock though was vital and extremely well executed. I have to say the game was mainly boring to watch compared to some of our other games but again - I'll take it over anything. I think Campbell & co had a very defined game plan and executed it, mostly, very well. Defense showed up in the 2nd half for the most part and Oregon's defense also got a bit better in the 2nd half too.
Oregon definitely has a lot of talent, you can tell, but they're also very young. I think either next season or the season after, Oregon is going to be really, really good.
What would have been 'exciting' to you since ISU was winning the Fiesta Bowl?
ISU's 1st half defense has hardly ever been good and today was an exception due to the speed they were facing. Getting stops in the 2nd half was impressive.
