I'm not sure how that's related - there isn't much at all ISU-related in the summer to discuss. That's what we were saying.

Agree, 10 cents a day shouldn't make or break you. I realize they add up after a few years, but so does everything else. If TV costs a 100 bucks a year, which it probably does with a loaded package with an HD TV, that is just about normal inflation.

I am also a Dish network subscriber. Other than NFL Sunday Ticket and the March maddness package and MLB package I get everything Direct TV offers for the most part except a lot cheaper bill. Plus I am a Twins/Vikings fan so I get all those games anyway. I think all these companies are dirty by the way.

What is "a lot cheaper bill"? I don't doubt that Dish is cheaper than DTV but from everything I've seen it isn't a huge amount.

Yeah, contrary to what was said above, DirecTV and Dish do both get into disputes with networks and local channels. DirecTV hasn't had Versus for a few months now, which prevented DirecTV subscribers from being able to see the ISU FB game(s?) that were on that channel.

I don't have any sources to back this up--it's just my observation--but it seems like rate increases on any major TV provider are most often due to increases in subscriber fees from the networks and channels they carry. That's the root of the current disputes between Sinclair and Mediacom as well as DirecTV and Versus. All any of these entities want is more of your money. IMO, there's no good guy in these fights.

DirecTV has a fairly good track record in these disputes, which is one of the reasons I've favored them. The Versus thing is a bit of an a anomaly, which I thought they would have ironed out by now, but I don't really care about now until next year

I totally agree that there's no good guy in these fights. Everyone just wants the biggest slice of the pie possible. The providers have fixed costs that don't, and can't change much, so pretty much every new negotiation is going to result in fee increases being passed down to consumers, until they are unwilling to pay for it.

The wildcard in this whole mess is Comcast. If they get big enough to create most of the content they distribute, it could be quite interesting for the whole market. It could turn into something of a competition between a few major content/distribution companies with "little guys" (like Mediacom) getting turned into an odd man out.

No, not yet but it's coming.

I assume by saying "dual room DVR" you mean two different DVR's being able to access the same content. If you mean can one DVR play in multiple locations than yes that is possible today with Directv. For example my DVR powers two TV's but they show the exact same thing.

I unchecked the option for a 2 year commitment so that it would remove all the discounts so there was no teaser rate.
