Yeah, contrary to what was said above, DirecTV and Dish do both get into disputes with networks and local channels. DirecTV hasn't had Versus for a few months now, which prevented DirecTV subscribers from being able to see the ISU FB game(s?) that were on that channel.
I don't have any sources to back this up--it's just my observation--but it seems like rate increases on any major TV provider are most often due to increases in subscriber fees from the networks and channels they carry. That's the root of the current disputes between Sinclair and Mediacom as well as DirecTV and Versus. All any of these entities want is more of your money. IMO, there's no good guy in these fights.
