Now I am not at all a fan of Mediacom, my wife and I subscribe to cable internet, but I feel Directv is guilty (if not more so) of the same rate increases that they are. Over the past 5 so years Directv has consistantly raises their rates across the board $3/month.

http://www.directv.com/email/30896-...pdf?CMP=EMC-MQ-CS&ATT=120-FV-V1-091227final&m=

In the last five years I've only received two rate increases on my cable internet, but I have learned to expect a rate increase every year from Directv. How come nobody complains more about this??

One word. Service. Besides price what other complaints do you have? They don't get into ******* matches with channels and the satellite works well most of the time. I don't mind paying for something that works and gives me what I want. When I have to pay, even if it is significantly less, for something that is a junk product with junk support, then I become angry.

You aren't supposed to talk bad about Directv on CF; only Mediacom. Directv has never raised their rates. And they put on NFL network, Sinclair stations, Big 10 network for free.

Maybe not on CF but I a lot of people complain about the rate increases, leasing of receivers, etc. The reason you don't see people complain as much here is because their main competition is Mediacom(cable side) which is a joke in about every aspect.

Also, you can't compare Mediacom internet to Directv's TV service. Two different animals. If you want compare Qwest DSL to Mediacom internet than that's another story. I've had qwest DSL for 3 years and it's never went up and is 1/2 the price of mediacom internet. Yes it's slower but I'm willing to give up the speed for 1/2 price.

Clearly this is a superior product. :biglaugh:

That would violate the first rule of DirectTV club:

You do not talk bad about DirectTV

Did Direct TV get Versus Back?. I know they were fighting :)
Didn't Direct TV and WGN in something going on over WGN's HD channel also?

I wouldn't get too excited about the ******** matches with channels thing. How was that Kansas v. ISU game? As soon as you start making claims like this is when your favorite channel is off the air for a month.

These types of things are just the way things are in the television world.

Let me know the next time you see the following:

"Anyone else in Urbandale having problems with Directv today?"

I had DirectTV and the dish would suck during storms. So I called 3 times to get it looked at. Took them a week to look at. Didn't fix it. They took Fox and ABC away because they wouldn't pay up. Had to switch back to Mediacom and it's cheap. Plus I haven't had any support issues. :wideeyed:

Versus and Fox affiliate are on two different levels. One is a network and one is a station that I would watch only for a Cyclone game. I have Dish Network, which I like better than direct TV because of a couple reasons but that is beside the point. The fact is that Mediacom is a joke. They were while I was in Ames anyway. If you have trouble it takes forever for them to get to you. When I had trouble with my dish, they were there the next day. Mediacom was pathetic in that aspect.

Mediacom is better, I go on first and clean the hair. No, conditioner is better, I make the hair silky smooth. Oh really fool!?

I am also a Dish network subscriber. Other than NFL Sunday Ticket and the March maddness package and MLB package I get everything Direct TV offers for the most part except a lot cheaper bill. Plus I am a Twins/Vikings fan so I get all those games anyway. I think all these companies are dirty by the way.

when will the cable/satellite threads end?

Never. It's always the exact same contest between the major three. Here are some examples from just over the last eight months - you'll see a lot of the same people:

http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/off-topic/54743-through-cyclone-eyes-directtv-vs-dish.html

You'll find the same recurring discussions about beer, 720 vs 1080p TV's, and smart phones - someone can start a thread just asking for advice/commenting on a particular one of any of those, and it instantly turns into a peeing contest. Such is the predictability of CF.

We should just start having peeing contests. I would win, by the way.

Wait till summer time when that is 1/2 of the threads.

It really depends on what you want.

If I want a lot of channels, HD, and 3 DVR's (ability to watch record on all 3)

Dish
Classic Gold and 3 HD DVR's
$102

Directv
Plus HD DVR and 3 HD DVR's
$86
