Congrats to Diante Garrett, who as of 5pm yesterday now has a guaranteed NBA contract for the rest of the year. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm making just a bit less than DG's $788k this year. One of my all-time favorite cyclones!

Very happy for him. He sets a good example for hard work. He has come a long way since he was a freshman at ISU!

Good for him! He should be financially secure the rest of his life unless he does something stupid.

A 25 year old is financially secure for the rest of his life on $788K?

Loved hearing this news!!! That "dance" between d league and the NBA can never pay off for some, glad to hear it and hope he gets a chance to play for awhile.

I really appreciated his leadership and attitude during his time here.

If you are smart about it. Wealthy? No, but secure.

He's going to give about 30% to Uncle Sam and live somewhere besides BFE, Iowa. He's going to need to pick up some sponsorship deals with local used car lots to be lifetime secure from 1 year in the NBA.

The assumption is that he would be working somewhere throughout his life. You don't need to make much coin if you can invest about $400k at age 25 that you don't need to touch. Hell, he's going to make good money even if this is the only time he sniffs the NBA.

If he's not stupid he'll be comfortable.

Hey, DG is a pretty good player. He can hoop. He is still difficult to steal the ball from as he has all sorts of different moves.

Yep. Resident must have gotten some bade advice.

I wonder what people would have said 2 years ago if I would have said that DG would play way more NBA minutes than Royce White. There are your polar opposites of what you can do with opportunities.
