DeJulius Thread: What I'm hearing

Cincinnati would have been a better addition to the B12 than WVU.

We're looking at this the wrong way. NOBODY would know what the Titanic was UNLESS is sank. Nothing but opportunity folks! I can see a musical, museum stuff, Ballard leading expeditions to find the missing ISU basketball program, maybe some paranormal angle - NOTHING but opportunity but we only win if we keep losing.

Check it out I wrote a theme song —

1.) What good does any message board talk do? Very little either way. There are slight positive indirect benefits to being positive or negative. ... Completely agree
2.) Depends how deep of hole he/she inherits. ... The followup narrative would then be entirely subjective (ala Fred vs Steve)
3.) Good coaching. ... 'subjective'. Let's get a little more finite. What metric(s) is/are indicative of good coaching?
4.) If they show to be overwhelmed at this level, they’ll be appropriately commented on. ... sorry to continue the emphasis on getting more explicit, but what, in your opinion, is 'overwhelmed'?

You should try supporting the program, not the just a coach! ... Correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't I read where he has the highest rated ISU class ever coming in this year?

Prohm needs to improve his staff and land players. It’s hard to see him being a part of this program without doing either. Hopefully both occur in the next couple months. There’s still time!
Followup inline. I'm not trying to be snarky. I'm very curious what your perspective is. Especially, since this is one of the more rational posts.

Good coaching and not being overwhelmed isn’t a singular thing. Signs it may be lacking;
-month long implosions with a roster like 2018-19.
-.500 in conference play with rosters considered in the top part of the conference.
-Poor team defense, particularly ball screen defense.
-Inability to consistently dictate matchups.
-Poor communication with players
-Poor roster management so you’re playing two centers because you have no modern 4’s, among other roster holes (spring recruiting)

There are reasons why we’re likely on our way to 3 very poor seasons in 4 once the program became fully reflective of this staff. Prohm and his staff haven’t been good enough in many facets, and right now they seem overwhelmed by the challenge they’ve created. Things change with one or two players in CBB and I think with a couple staff changes, Prohm could have a successful run ahead. He’s apparently going with what’s led him to this downturn though.

While it is a top 25 class there are several teams with classes with a higher average star ranking but are only below us because we have more kids in the class.

As the k state guy can see, there is nothing this coach can do to get any credit here.

It's a solid class but if those who keep bringing up that it's a top 25 class are expecting it to be program changing they're in for a rude awakening.

Good reminder, surly. Cue the responses from select posters:

- Yeah, but each just fell into his lap
- That was before their HS seasons - they each should be ranked in the 300s, if at all
- Last season stunk, so each one of these players will too
- That was then, this is now
- Can't believe he couldn't bring in a Top 10 class, that's what we're used to
- If he'd signed Born, it would be Top 5
- ...

P.S. Yes, I know last season stunk, it's been a rough drought here in spring recruiting, and Prohm's job should be on the line this year -- and, he may not be here at this time next year. But, that has nothing to do with how good our recruiting class is. Sit back and enjoy something (anything?!) for a moment. Let the negativity rest for a day, an hour, a minute.

I think it's a very good class but I don't think it's a class that changes a whole lot next year (hope I'm wrong because it's looking like they will be expected to be big contributors). I do think if we can keep all the guys here for at least 2 years it will be a very good class.

I do feel better about these guys getting thrown in the fire than Jackson and Grill (yeah I know that's obvious).

He could not lose to Florida A&M.

That’s not what he said. He spoke of a top 25 class and people immediately started shitting on it and downplaying it.

This is why its so funny when the main offenders start in on their straw men about how passionate they are and how it’s so much worse at other schools.

folks have already been diminishing a top 25 class. These kids haven’t even set foot on campus; nor played a single second of basketball for Iowa State.

there are people actually hoping they decommit. After a season where a kid that chose to play here was a favorite target because the roster he signed up to play for was completely different.

We're coming off a 20 loss season. Now, we're primed to have an identical season, quite possibly worse. That's the reason for the shade. Our program is moved to the basement of the conference.

Thanks for absolutely confirming what I said

Plenty of impact transfer left out there. We will get a couple of them and things will be fine.

That seems like blind faith at this point. I hope you're right, but nothing at this juncture leads me to believe that.
