Hosting Drug House is not the same as possession. It just means someone had/was using MJ in the house. He is not charged with possession, which means they don't evidence it was his or on his person.

I doubt this will suspend him for the year, though he may miss a few games. Still a bonehead thing to do.

agreed, unless there are behind the scenes issues that arent public.

I hope he doesn't play. Can you imagine beating the Hawks without him and McKay in?

Two of our end of the year starters would be out AND no one in our entire starting lineup will be a transfer

Here is the proper code section:

24.407 Gatherings where controlled substances unlawfully used — penalties.

It is unlawful for any person to sponsor, promote, or aid, or assist in the sponsoring or promoting of a meeting, gathering, or assemblage with the knowledge or intent that a controlled substance be there distributed, used or possessed, in violation of this chapter.

Any person who violates this section and where the controlled substance is any one other than marijuana is guilty of a class “D” felony.

Any person who violates this section, and where the controlled substance is marijuana only, is guilty of a serious misdemeanor.

The district court shall grant an injunction barring a meeting, gathering, or assemblage if upon hearing the court finds that the sponsors or promoters of the meeting, gathering, or assemblage have not taken reasonable means to prevent the unlawful distribution, use or possession of a controlled substance. Further injunctive relief may be granted against all persons furnishing goods or services to such meeting, gathering, or assemblage.

The district court may, upon application and a showing of one or more of the grounds provided in section 639.3, grant to the state or governmental subdivision thereof a writ of attachment, ex parte, without bond, in an amount necessary to secure the payment of any fine that may be imposed and the payment of costs. The reasonable expense to the state and governmental subdivisions thereof to provide the necessary law enforcement resulting from a meeting, gathering or assemblage held in violation of this section may be taxed as costs in the criminal action.

After reading all these tweets it actually makes me want Fred to sit him. If he is this big of a dumb *** and he gets let off by Fred this time you know he won't learn a lesson. We are good enough to play with Iowa without him but if we lose it can be a teaching point. He will have let down his teammates and I'd rather not have him for Iowa than conference play. I won't be upset if its handled internally but think it could be good if he sits.

Suspend him for a few games. BDJ deserves it for being an idiot.

Now I just think he's dumb. The cops tell you to turn it down, you do it.

I had questions about his intelligence before, but this certainly confirms it. The cops have been to your place 5 times to tell you to keep it down. Clearly you know by that point that one of your neighbors doesn't appreciate the BS. A more intelligent person would do one of the following (in order):

1 Quit partying. You have probably the biggest opportunity of your life right in front of you. It isn't worth it. If your career isn't important to you then that's one thing, but your team is relying on you as well.

2. If you can't find the strength to quit partying then for God's sake go somewhere else. If you've been warned that many times before then you're just plain dumb for continuing the behavior.

He'll sit 3 games. Be back for Miss. Valley State warm-up then South Carolina. Dumb move, but whatever. I was around people smoking weed in college and I had the cops show up multiple times for noise. I would have been smarter if I was about to make bank playing in the NBA, but hey, to each his own. DUMB.

I'm assuming he'll be suspended indefinitely per ISU rules, but I really hope he plays tomorrow, just to stick it to the squawk idiots.

Peter Jok spent 4 days in jail and didnt miss a game... they really don't have room to talk.

Police were called to Dejean-Jones’ apartment around 3 a.m. Thursday due to a noise complaint. The ISU senior answered the door and officers smelled burnt marijuana, according to Ames police commander Geoff Huff. The charge of hosting a drug house is a serious misdemeanor.

Dejean-Jones’ apartment had been an issue for local police recently as they’d visited it five separate times due to noise complaints. Huff said they worked with Dejean-Jones, other residents of the building and the ISU men’s basketball coaching staff to alleviate the issue, even creating a system for other residents to text Dejean-Jones if noise was became an issue.

Sounds like the Ames PD was doing everything it could to not arrest him. BDJ is an idiot.

Maybe he was listening to DJ Snake when the cops rolled up and the cops mistaken Lil John's voice as BJD.

Well, to add to it, he was told FIVE(!) times to turn it down and didn't, which resulted in the arrest. That's pretty idiotic, however at least his busted party didn't riot on Welch Ave.

I haven't seen that it was necessarily 5 times that night. Just 5 times in the past.

I'm not a lawyer in any way, but after reading some of the reports on what happened, it doesn't appear that they found anything in the apartment, just smelled it. Therefore I doubt they have any evidence to convict him of this "drug house." He should be suspended for being stupid however. 5 warnings? Come on man..

I agree... its like being told to quit riding your moped without a license and then you keep doing it.

Spoke with a family member in the know regarding the drug laws in the state, I was told "It looks like he was charged under the social host law, that is a only a fine for the first offense"
