Well today is the "superbowl" of the NASCAR season. We have seen an increase in violations this year, and that is just to get in the race. Of all the races, starting position doesn't mean as much in a restrictor plate race.
Who is your favorite racer, and who do you think will win?
I am a Junior fan, yes this is the popular choice, I followed his dad and continued the legacy.
I predict Stewart to have a good race with Gilliland being the wild card.
I hope for a safe race without the "big one".

I never meant to come off as I would watch a entire race that has never happened before and won't happen anytime in the near future.
I guess unless ISU starts participating in racing lol

How's the son of that dead guy doing? Doesn't Gordan still win everything?

There, that oughtta liven up this thread ...

I respect the fact that you don't like NASCAR. What is it about the title Daytona 500, or off topic that got you confused? There are fans that I was trying to invoke a serious discussion.:no6xn:

God, I can't think of the guys name, he drives the 48 car.... Is it Jimmy Johnson? I like watching him, and the Busch brothers. I'd also be very surprised if we don't see "a big one" in a restrictor plate race though. Although, this isn't the Talladega? race...

At least spend time watching more exciting racing like F1 or rally. Nascar is just so boring. I would rather watch baseball, golf, or god forbid, soccer.

You make it sound like those sports aren't fun to watch... I watch all of them... World Cup this summer was amazing to watch. All you need to make watching golf fun, is a case of beer, 2 cases for Baseball, and a bottle of Whiskey for car racing.

My best memories in my life are watching NASCAR with my father. In 98 when Dale finally won the 500 that was something special. Now that both Dale and my father are gone I have been away from NASCAR for some years now. This is the first time in my life that I have a job that I have the weekends off so I'm gonna try and get back into this.
Jr. is by far my favorite. I think however that we may see Stewart take the win.

No matter what some people think of the sport, I will be watching every second of pre-race coverage and every second of every lap that I can. Yes I'm a NASCAR fan!

I've become a big fan over the past 2 years. I went to the race in Kansas City last year and watching it live is even better.

People say that you really need to have a driver you root for to get into it and Tony Stewart is mine.

I'm really looking forward to it today.

I can't wait until NASCAR and open-wheel racing come to the Iowa Speedway this summer. I get to de-virginize my girlfriend to racing!:biggrin9gp:

I agree with all the live comments! I had the chance to go the Las Vegas motor speed way (I think it was either in 98 or 99). The environment at the track is amazing. No it's not all red necks and wife beaters. There are everyday hard working people there having a blast! Think of it like a full week of tailgating followed by a 4 hour sporting event, followed by a 4 hour grill off. If you have chance to go to one of these live, take it, you will love it.

I cant wait for the race to start. Go Gordon, Denny Hamlin and Casey Mears. Too bad my boy Vickers didnt make the race.

If any of you wanna try your hand at racing, I'll rent you my car for a day to try it out on dirt. Any takers?

With a case of beer I can make paint drying fun to watch. Does not mean I want to watch it sober.

i love racing, but i will say it kinda is somthing u have to grow up with.. like i have..and if you havent.. you cant just jump to conclusion of it being a bunch of stupid rednecks driving 200mph around in circles...

with all that said.. go Dale Jr
