Dan Patrick vs. Colin Cowherd

When I am working I listen to DP, when I or my kids are home sick I watch DP. With that being said I hate Cowherd even more and I will side with DP on this one

Cowherd's the most sophomoric, unresearched idiot on the radio. I could take or leave Patrick. But the little I do catch of Cowherd I feel dumber after doing so. I will say it's funny when a caller owns him in an argument and then suddenly goes silent from Cowherd hitting the mute on them.

Cowherd says every opinion as so matter of fact. Can't stand him. He contradicts himself all the time with his TOUGH STANCES. When Sanchez led NYJ to the conf championship two hrs in a row all he could talk about was how he was a winner and was going to be a great NFL QB. Then the last three yds all he did was rip on him for being terrible, just like he always said he was. He's just plain terrible

I use to be in the car a lot for work, so my line up would go Mike and Mike, followed by Cowherd, then the Dan Patrick Show. I was tuned into AM 1600 ESPN Radio in eastern iowa and they killed the contract on the Dan Patrick Show and replaced it with SVP & Russilo. Sorry but I can not listen to SVP & Russilo, that is slow stuff. But once 3:00 rolls around it gets drastically worse as they cut to the local Cedar Rapids crew of Scott Eunash and the GYM class. Those guys are probably the worst I have ever heard. Absolutely no opinion what so ever, they are afraid to take a voice and just blubber hawkeye and CR Jefferson sports all hour long.

this has nothing to do with anything but: I listen to a podcast every night when I fall asleep. I rotate between Murph and Andy, The Nerdist, Dan Patrick, and Adam Corrola. I prefer Dan Patrick because I fall asleep every time within 5 mintues while the others keep me up nearly the whole 45 or so minutes of the show. Good story bro.

I don't understand why anyone would listen to Cowherd over Rome or Mohr.

His sports opinion is much worse, he's typically even more angry as Rome and he's not funny at all while those other two can make you laugh at times.

My favorite Cowherd moment is the entire year he spent railing on Big 12 football when the B12 went 6-1 in bowls, 7-0 vs the spread, and Texas won the national title. Was calling it the worst conference all year when it was clearly the best that season. I'd only listen to him if I were going to bet the opposite of his opinions.

Does that mean he soothes you to sleep or he doesn't interest you at all?

I don't get the Jay Mohr hype. B-List celebrity and comedian and gets a show because he likes sports. The sound drops and bits are even more annoying than Rome's while he's still not knowledgeable, then again I'm not sure he claims to be. Seems like a good guy I guess who cares about his fans, but I don't miss him now that Eisen has gotten better here the last while. Jury's still out on what Rich will talk about now that the NFL is done.

I can listen to SVP and Rusillo. They get lost in some pretty unfunny bits they think are hilarious though.

The only time I catch Cowherd anymore is when I'm going out for lunch and I swear about 20% of the time he's railing on Kobe.

When they do their Boston accents....it's awful radio. Most of the time they are pretty good.

Why anyone would listen to ESPN radio when there are far better options available is beyond me.

What sports radio shows are you recommending?

Mike & Mike would be a good show if you wanted 100% NFL talk all year.

This. I don't understand why they don't give up the morning gig and just get a show later in the day specifically dedicated to the NFL so they can quit pretending to care about anything else. It's like it pains them to break in to their football show to talk college hoops. They've been at it long enough to have the clout.

Their act is a little tired but I don't mind them for the most part. I'm not a terribly dedicated follower but I'll turn it on in the background when I'm getting ready in the morning. I'm just not a big enough NFL guy to have a sports talk show that's supposed to be general spend 80% of the time talking NFL, especially from February to July.

Haven't liked Colin since he replaced Tony Cornheiser. He's too condescending for my taste. Dan, on the other hand, has a lot of credibility and can take a side that maybe I don't agree with but still lets me have my opinion without belittling it. He's also not afraid to give credit where due, especially to the Danettes, who are great at playing off him and break up the monotony of the one voice show.

I watch the DP show just about everyday. And ya, he has 4 buddies that happen to be "producers" but he includes them in the show expertly. He's far from lazy, I'm sure he does not "work" the hours that Cowherd says he does but why would he need to? DP has a smooth operation going, gets just about anyone he wants (even a few ESPN guys) and the show flies by

I've listened to Cowherd on occasion and am far from a fan of his. But I am chuckling at the multiple posters who had to get in a "liberal" dig against him. If you think Cowherd is overly politicized radio then you are living in a bubble.

Not overly politicized, but I think the argument some are making is that they don't listen to sports radio for any politics, most other hosts do a good job of avoiding the subject all together.

I too like Eisen, but a lot of times it's just a rehash of the same national topics that DP covered in the morning. A ton of NFL and NBA talk. That's my only negative about Eisen's show. He has good guests and is fun to listen to.

I liked Mohr because he was something different. He was a comedian who had a sports show, where as DP and Eisen are sports guys who can be pretty funny sometimes.
