Cyhawk postgame thread

I doubt it. When Kirk hangs up his $7 million/yr gift, WonderWoman will go to the outside and hire her own person.

As frustrated as Iowa fans get with kf, just wait until they have an average or below average defense in a conference that’s radically better than it was 10 years ago.

is iowa football even a good job anymore? its likely the 10th or 11th best job in the big 10. their NIL situation is complicated, expectations are unrealistic, and you would be replacing a legend. i am not sure who wants that.
I actually agree with this. Iowa has been winning at a good clip because of the coach, but the environment around them hasn't improved for Iowa, it has likely done the opposite. So the Ferentz departure seems like it could be similar to Snyder at KSU, Beamer at VA Tech, Alvarez at Wisconsin. It feels like the odds are a long shot they maintain or improve their level of success with the next hire.

Who on the current staff would both (1) want it and (2) even be in consideration? Lester? If Parker wanted to be a head coach he'd have left long ago.

They pissed away 10 years trying the nepotism route and now have nothing.

Haven't rewatched yet, but here's my initial take aways a day later:

- The DL played out of their minds - especially Orange and McDonough. They consistently won and didn't let the Iowa backs through the line cleanly all day
- Marcus Neal is a stud, he was everywhere all day. I thought Tre Bell and Tshawn James were very good too
- That Rocco doesn't have a turnover through 3 games is a remarkable feat. He didn't have a great game, but he controlled it and didn't make mistakes
- We played maybe our 'C' game with a lot of bad mistakes- it really says something that we can win this game with that many mistakes
- Overby and Sowell really struggled, I think there were 5-6 catchable balls (not necessarily drops) that they didn't come done with that would have really changed the game
- I know this isn't a popular take, but i like the Hansen/Sama usage. Start with Hansen early, then run Sama at them for a while, then bring Hansen back to hammer the defense in the 4th quarter. They are going to have some big games coming up
- The muffed punt officiating was some of the worst I've ever seen. I didn't think the rest of the game was horrible, but that was VERY poorly handled

They should hurry up and hire Golesh before OSU does

I'm enjoying the cope from fans of the team out east that they lost again on a long field goal.

The 54-yarder didn't end the game, they had plenty of time to drive down the field and win the game. They didn't/couldn't.

Last year Rocco had 30 seconds and worse field position and led us down the field to win the game. Iowa easily could have tied it up, if not won the game.

Big 12 coaching jobs might be better than mid level Big Ten/SEC jobs. Somebody should do a power ranking of P5 coaching jobs. I think NIL program resources have to weigh heavily in the current environment though.

That last defensive stand was classic Heacock. When he needs to be knows how to **** over a QB
We finally got them into a situation where we didn't have to worry about the run or QB scramble. So it wasn;t rocket science, but I actually really liked us running Rocco on that 3rd down to get Konrardy a little closer knowing that if you make the FG, Iowa has no chance of driving 40 yards in 1:40 or whatever it was.

I think I enjoyed the total apathy of the Iowa fans at our party more. They are a bandwagon fanbase, always have been. If the Hawkeyes aren't artificially boosting their self worth, they move on to the next popular thing. Indiana Fever or whatever.

The slow mesh RPO or whatever Klatt was calling it really put pressure on our middle LB to decide what he wanted to do. Most of the time, ISU bailed out into coverage. I think Iowa only ever used it to run QB or tailback off the read though (which is what they are supposed to do.) Once Iowa got to a part of the game where they had to throw the ball, that particular gimmick wasn't really very useful any more.

Wow…read BHGP analysis of the game today…what a bunch of whiny excuse makers. No objectivity at all. One example…

”It seemed like the Hawkeyes had gotten a stop on the next drive, but an absolutely horeshit gift from the officials giving Matt Campbell a timeout when he clearly had not called it in time, kept the drive alive.”

And that wasn’t the worst of it. That Matt Cabel is an embarrassment.

I enjoyed that. Ferentz gets those all the time. We were due to get one back. Gotta say, I'd be pissed too. I think he got it by a hair, but you don't usually get that. Ref had good ears or peripheral vision. Too bad.
