Cyhawk postgame thread

I was walking around parking lot A3 looking for a friend. I saw 3 Iowa kids with a case of Coors and they looked pretty young. I told them to be careful, cops were checking IDs (I dont want to see anyone get busted). They laughed at me and said they were old enough. I walked by a few minutes later and the cops were writing tickets. You cant fix stupid.

Did you ask if they were studying for their masters or phds from UI?

I think Seth Wallace would be the heir apparent there, but I’m guessing the AD wants to wash her hands of the whole staff and go in a different direction altogether.
is iowa football even a good job anymore? its likely the 10th or 11th best job in the big 10. their NIL situation is complicated, expectations are unrealistic, and you would be replacing a legend. i am not sure who wants that.

They have a seat at the table, which is probably all that matters to some coaches. They might be at the kids table but they’re still technically there.

My lucky underwear is 3-0 this year!

This is the second year in a row I didn’t watch the second half. Ran an errand and went for a walk. Guess I’m not watching the second half next year either

ya. i get that. but i cant wait to hear their desired candidates and watch them struggle to fill the position with a big name coach.

Iowa fans were that way before Hayden even if they were bad. They were still convinced that they were far and above ISU to a point where they wouldn't play ISU unless it was at Kinnick.

Many of them really don't know that Iowa wasn't even that good under Fry, just decent with like two really good teams if that.
One time when I was bored, I took Iowa's winning percentage under Fry and Iowa State's winning percentage under the numerous head coaches. Iowa's winning percentage during that time was slightly better than Iowa State's (if I did my math right).

If someone wants to correct me on it, please do. But I agree with madguy30, Fry had a couple of excellent years, but the rest were like 7-5, 8-4 type years

To play devil’s advocate: look up Johnny Orr’s winning percentage at ISU. It’s nothing special without the context of the situation.

This has probably been answered, but there is too much to keep up on. The last Iowa drive... Was the coverage that good or was Gronowski too gun shy?
One of the plays, it looked to me like a slot fade got wide open downfield...but I'd have to rewatch it on TV to be sure. He might've been flushed out of the pocket before it actually broke open/never actually saw it break.

The epic ball washing Chad Leistico and Scott Dochtorman has done for Iowa and Mark Gronowski is going to provide us with endless entertainment this year.

Between this and Chad’s “this really puts a dent in Iowa’s playoff hopes” - hook it into my veins all season.

“Playoff hopes” basically means b10 ccg win or ranked in top 11.

Iowa has a legit schedule this year, maybe for the first time ever. What on earth makes someone look at that schedule and think this Iowa team can be #11 or higher and/or finish 1 or 2 in big ten then beat Ohio state or USC in champ game?

With this Iowa schedule (first ever tough one) ISU’s path is much more realistic.

Well it is the same game every year. It’s a stressful coin flip basically.

I'm enjoying the cope from fans of the team out east that they lost again on a long field goal.

The 54-yarder didn't end the game, they had plenty of time to drive down the field and win the game. They didn't/couldn't.

Kieth Murphy the other day dropped that Iowa has always been in the more prestigious conference.

I grew up an Iowa fan moving back and forth between Iowa and Nebraska during Hayden era. The Big Ten was absolutely never better at football than the Big 8 or Big 12. It was really obvious the Big 12 especially was far superior and I realized it even as an Iowa fan family, I could tell Iowa was very lucky they didn’t have to play OU, Neb, Colorado, ksu, Texas, A&M etc in the 90s and early 00s and got to play inferior slow teams. The day the Big Ten became the better fb conf was the day OU/Texas left combined with best Pac programs joining Big Ten, never before then.

My guess is, if KF does retire shortly, they’ll promote Parker as a bridge coach.

And he’ll know his own limitations enough to hire a competent OC, and hand him the reins.
I doubt it. When Kirk hangs up his $7 million/yr gift, WonderWoman will go to the outside and hire her own person.

High pay and they are content to beat up on bad teams.
