Yea, the ******* Rotters are out early this year. ******* idiots. HCMC is the best coach ISU has had.
I agree CMC is the best coach ISU has had. He’s so close to consistently winning 9-10 games, IF he fixes the preparation for September and bowl games. Otherwise, we’ll continue to have decent 7-win seasons with frustrating losses to juggernauts like Ohio and Memphis.

Is 10-wins going to feel as good as we think it is now that we're in a watered down conference? It would have been cool to do it during the P5 era. In this P2 era though, it shouldn't be that surprising when/if it happens, and you just know the TOE fans will try to piss in our cheerios about it.

Our season record will largely depend on our place kicking. Success, or lack thereof, will sway our record plus or minus two games from say a reasonable expectation of 7 and 5.

The offense and defense will both basically meet our expectations; that leaves place kicking (a special teams component} as the real wild card to our final record. Nothing new there. It pretty much is that way every season.
Glad you brought this up. Once we get to the opponent's 30 or better, there is about a 98% chance that we attempt a field goal if we get to 4th down. CMC is a "take the points" guy. And maybe rightly so. Goes along with his "keep it close" philosophy. But if that is your approach, you need a guy that makes about 90% of those kicks.

All of their success comes in years they don’t play the Big 10 powers.

TOE fans and their mental gymnastics are not something I’m ever interested in trying to compare our teams too.

heard the o line is gonna be the best ever. heard isu dark horse to make the playoff and win the big12.

there i just saved you 15 summer time podcasts with chris and blum
Williams and Blum aren't making this **** up, FWIW.

The coaches are lying to them and they're merely passing on what they're told, which is what they know because they aren't coaches in practice every day.

Blame the coaches, not the media.

What a bunch of Debbie downers in this thread. Yes, CMC’s teams have drastically underachieved, however, ISU now has the equivalent to a B1G west schedule. Wouldn’t shock me if we win 9 regular season games, 10 if we can beat UI
Underperformed only correlates to expectations. And expectations, in large part, is a marketing campaign. So, we should expect to have bloated expectations before every season.

Good lord, Campbell had like 2 disappointing seasons, and 1 of those would be considered "good" in a historical context. WTF is up with the attitude in this thread?
A lot of people seem to be under the impression that success should be a linear climb upward. It never is.

Okay insiders, how’s the OL looking this year? Are we bulked up road-graders or light and quick ninjas?

Nope, sorry I can't trust high expectations as we have been burned by it many times. I can't trust that this is the year the offensive line is good. And getting their @sses kicked in the bowl game, we didn't even look like we belonged on the same field with them, they dominated us in the trenches. Lets see how we do in Iowa City, CMC still has yet to figure that one out. Even In 2022 we seemed like we were good enough or so much better than them to beat them 24-3, we barely mustered a 10-9 win.

For all the people complaining about the team failing when they have high expectations the article in the OP says surprise contenders, which by definition would mean we DON'T have high expectations. Not from a national perspective anyways. So relax. This isn't 2021. We aren't going to be a dark horse national title contender or anything. We won't even be ranked going into the season.

Yes. A thousand times YES considering we've never reached that milestone. Maybe our conference is missing some blue blood heavy weights, but we're not exactly the MAC either. 10 wins against the likes of Utah, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia would be quite the achievement.
