What’s the back story with the announcer saying MJ is committed to Cal Baptist?
I’m assuming that was his original commit and then switched to ISU…?
As I recall, he flipped to ISU pretty late in the process. I think right after Perryman, his high school teammate committed to the Clones.
He actually came to Ames for the night of conflict deal that IA wrestle puts on, wrestled Riggins and beat him - it might have been the second time they wrestled in a short time period.. but I’m pretty sure Cyclone coaches pounced on him, he might have been in Ames the very next day on a visit then flipped.
Edit to add he might have been here for NOC because of the coaches and a visit all in one
I think they are referring to avoiding matches that may hurt their rankings. Mizz & Cornell both allegedly did it in their duals against Iowa State
