Cyclone Wrestling Twitter

Soo…in case you all didn’t know, CF does some fun “tournaments” during the offseason (not much else going on, right?) in NCAA tournament bracket format in the Off Topic Forum, headed by @CycloneRulzzz with a few others on the committee. They pit things like best cereals, best horror movies, etc. They do a great job with it.

The current tournament is “Best Sports Movie”.

Vision Quest made the tournament, but as a 16 seed against 1 seed Field of Dreams. Get over there and make your feelings known!

So exciting. What are the odds we see him in the lineup next year? I have to think he's taking down Kysen even if he's new to folkstyle.

I know Echemendia himself said he wasn't going 141 next year but if we fantasize for a moment...

125: Osmany
133: Frost
141: Echemendia
149: Johnson
157: Swiderski/Chittum?
165: Swiderski/Chittum/Other?
174: Gaitan
184: Naakt
197: Bockman
285: Bastida

That is one hell of a scary team.

I think Euton could be in the mix at 165. Hard worker and grinder type.

Yeah 165 seems like one of the biggest question marks for me, just not being familiar with Euton/Rojas as much and not knowing if any of the other guys are big enough to make it there.

It doesn't matter if someone knows wrestling. Whether a fan or not, the constant negativity and belittling of student athletes is not necessary. I have skepticism as well, but I don't come on here bashing our athletes.

When I was a college athlete, I remember how hard it was to meet my own expectations, let alone others'. That was before the days of social media. I know coaches tell the kids to stay off of message boards, but do they all listen? I doubt it. If constantly negative, it is best to keep that conversation off the boards!
First off, too much positivity and optimism can lead to some performance anxiety for some guys. They need doubters and people who don’t believe in them to fuel them. If you’ve ever coached you know this, we don’t know how the guys internalize things. Secondly, they are now nearly professional athletes getting paid. When we were college athletes we weren’t getting paid, at least I wasn’t. Most of the guys like the attention. But most people on here pay for season tickets, show up to fundraisers, donate, and hype on social media. When you ask a lot as a fanbase it’s fair to have criticism when performances don’t happen and the answer is just “raise more money to buy a proven commodity”. Or maybe just get the already talented guys to that next level and performing their best, that’s what you ask of the athletes and coaches who are asking for money. Yonger did not perform his best at nationals and he knows that. He would be the first to admit it and I would guess that’s fuel on the fire for next season

Euton certainly looks like a qualifier and solid guy. I'll be interested to see what kind of a jump he makes if he's going to be the man at 165. He did have some decent wins last year, beat 3 qualifiers in Blaine Brenner, Joseph Bianchi and Jack Thomsen (x3).

Can someone help me (and probably others) out and tell me how to properly pronounce the new Cuban’s name?
