Cyclone Slant: Phillips transfer depletes guard depth

Nothing going on in Cyclone Athletics except the second biggest Wrestling event of the year...
 
FYI, we're not very good at wrestling this year. I'll care about wrestling again when we're good.
 
This is a free website that has one full-time employee. There are only so many hours in the day. I do the best that I can. If you want more wrestling coverage, Cyclones.com, the Des Moines Register and the Ames Tribune all do a great job. We hope to improve this aspect to our site in the future but right now, basketball and football recruiting are our priorities.

Chris you shouldn't have to defend yourself. As much as they hate to admit it, wrestling is a niche sport and doesn't require the same attention as football and basketball. You aren't going to draw advertisers running CycloneWrestling.com.

Funny thing is I had no idea that the "second" biggest wrestling event is even going on.
 
I don't have a problem with Chris putting more focus on certain sports. Perhaps he could have left out the part about nothing going on in Cyclone athletics.

Most people would agree that this is a pretty dead time for ISU sports if we aren't in a bowl game. Wrestling comes in at about 3rd or 4th on the priority list and is easily overlooked.
 
This hurts us for depth this year but really only if we get bitten by the injury bug. I'm not overly worried about that though because we've been 1 injury away from disaster all year. Let's hope our young guys on the wings can keep giving us quality minutes.

I know, I was just giving you crap for the "Nothing going on in Cyclone Athletics this week" line. Just because you aren't in Chicago doesn't mean it's not happening!

When wrestling starts to draw the same numbers for attendance even during a rebuilding year (and even years, per Mac regime) I'll begin to care. Until then, shut it Judoka...the coverage on this site is great.

I didn't say anything about the coverage... I don't expect CycloneFanatic to have somebody at Midlands or any other wrestling event, I just commented on the "nothing going on in Cyclone Athletics this week" line.
