Ctrl Alt Delete for Cyclone Football

Sorry, I don't have $10 million to spare. I guess I'll just have to go back to drizzling, whatever that is.

Lol who said anything about 10 million? Do you give all you can? Do you donate at all? Because for as large of an alumni base Iowa State has, we have lagged why behind the mean in terms of donations.

I will guarantee no OU, ut, wvu, osu, tech, Baylor, or tcu booster that understands the arms race that is college football, would make some jive post about how we need to think outside the box, or claim that some renovation that should have been done 20+ years ago should take care of whatever disadvantages existed before.

Time to fire Jeff Johnson then.

Cliff Kingsbury supports this message. And TTU is really good... oh, wait.

And Kingsbury had direct OC experience at a high level, high offense school.

And comparing a basketball coach and a football coach isn't even remotely applicable.

There was another poster, sorry I don't remember their screen name, but they were exactly correct. Iowa State fans are simply not willing to do what it takes to have a winning football program. In fact, they never have been.

Remember the panic and upset when JP sent out the ticket price increase letters. People were genuinely angry to have to come up with more money.

Do you think any of the "good" football school fans and alums have that same reaction when they get substantial increases in ticket prices and donations.

To my esteemed fellow poster Norcal, i ask the same question, again. Are you giving all you can?

I knew that you fundementally didn't understand when you didn't understand the effect of the implications of the rumors of getting kicked out of the BCS had on recruiting. So my expectations of you are pretty low.

Do not recall threat of ISU being kicked out of BCS? You sure about that? Maybe out of P5 conference. But don't see how that is an excuse for not being able to beat FCS teams in 2014.

Being demoted from a P5 conference to the Mountain West, or worse, is getting kicked out of the BCS. Look how much success Boise had to have before anyone took them seriously, It was the same for TCU, but they were in the process of moving up to what was then the Big East.

Everytime Iowa State was mentioned it was that we did not have a landing place. That went on for two consecutive Summers.

And you are right, the losses to FCS teams are inexcusable. NDSU is a different animal though it seems, working on 3 straight national championships, having beaten Minnesota and Kansas State in that timeframe.

Currrently spending $60 million on stadium expansion. Just spent $20 million on football facility. If you are saying some of that money should be spent on people instead of buildings you might have a point. Money will always be finite for every enterprise (except the Fed govt,). Well run enterprises take a 360 degree look at what they can do better. That means leveraging strengths, overcoming weakness. Since nobody is cutting a $100 mil check soon, maybe it's worth trying to figure out how to do more with less. Worth a try. No evidence of any kind of plan currently. CPR throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.

Very true, certainly in the corporate world. I would hope the AD is sitting with his football staff or core advisors having just such a 'what's working - what's not working' discussion and developing a plan.

btw, the estimated cost of the south end zone expansion is only $30 million and it's part of a total $60 capital budget that includes updating several dorms. But, you are correct on the $20 million addition to the Bergstrom facility. Of course that really doesn't compare much to the $100 million Oklahoma State spent on their new practice facility. While ISU has a few big doners, non compair to a Boone Pickens, or the CEO of Nike.
