That's a load of crap. Why should I have to log into their app with a TV package to get access to it? That's terrible. Way to push people away from your app/streaming service vs bringing more people to it.
It's not as enjoyable as watching but the radio call is free to stream. That might be an option next year too.
That’s how everyone does it. You can watch ESPN on the ESPN app with a TV login. Fox the same way. They don’t want to (or contractually prevented from) offer channels outside of the packages they sell to cable providers. So they won’t sell their channels direct to consumers outside of streaming only channels.
There have been rumors of ESPN offering a direct to consumer option in the future, but I’d guess even that would be challenged by streaming providers like the last attempt with Fox and ESPN.
Well your in luck. ESPN's direct to consumer service is set to go live in August. Web articles mention $30-$40/month for just ESPN's. Will be curious is ESPN+, ACCN & SECN are part of base package. How about ABC games? Or will those be an add-on?
It's part of their contracts with the cable and streaming platforms. Otherwise there is no reason for the platforms to pay Disney, Warner, Universal, etc. bundled monthly carriage fees.
I’ll get rabbit ears (those still a thing or are they all flat now?) for ABC and Fox. Now I just need CBS and Fox to follow suit. I’ll probably end up saving $5 / month if at all, but I’ll feel better on principle.

Tell that somebody they’ll get no marital relations if they distract you from the game. That’s how my wife gets to watch her shows without distraction. I’m sure it’ll work the same for you.
All I have is radio and over the air. So I got to watch the bowl game, the Baylor game and the KSU game later this season. I will watch the youtube highlights if we win.
What's funny about that link is that if you select all the local channels and networks like Comet, Charge!, Cozi, MeTV, etc and it only shows subscription services when you can get all of those with an antenna......Sling Orange with Sports Extra and ESPN+ should get you everything you need to watch ISU basketball and football unless they put it on BTN when they play Iowa. You'd have to add Sling Blue that month then drop it.

I think I'm going to experiment the next couple weeks to see what I can watch through the streaming apps we already have/subscribe to. Like today we have the Disney/ESPN/Hulu bundle so ESPN+ is an easy one. Will try some NFL games too. I downloaded Fox Sports and CBS Sports to the smart TV yesterday but haven't tried them yet. I'll keep an eye out for "sign in using your cable provider too."
For those of you with ESPN+ do you get the regular ESPN channels with that or is that a completely separate thing?
If that was a the case I think I could save a **** load of money with the disney/espn/hulu bundle along with max. The only thing keeping me from that right now is I lose half my local channels at night when I go OTA.

Separate. It is the things that they don’t want to put on the various ESPN networks. I really like what is on there, but it isn’t really a substitute for ESPN (if you want those channels).
