More on where we stand, who we are prioritizing, of their other visits, who is thought to be the key competition...stuff like that.
We’ll have a better idea where we stand after this wave of visits. Some kids will be thrilled, some of them just won’t feel like it’s the right fit.

As far as who we’re prioritizing…they’re visiting. As far as how we stand with the kids we’re prioritizibg…well, they’re using one of their five OV’s.

Kind of a self fulfilling prophecy.

I’ve been planning to write something up after the second wave of visits. Sound fair?

Fair warning—I learned a long time ago not to try to read the mind of a sixteen or seventeen year old kid. Too often they simply say good things trying to be polite, they get home for a while and the emotions fade—or they simply change their minds.

Almost as difficult as trying to understand women. :jimlad:

IMO,, too many people are overestimating the palates of the 17-18 year old kids we are recruiting. Most kids aren't going to appreciate cajun blackened prime rib at Aunt Maude's or the thick oat crust at Great Plains. Hickory Park a great restaurant with an expansive menu and great service. And it is an Ames institution.

Is it the best BBQ place in the area? Nope. Best Burgers? Nope. No steaks, or lobster tail either. But it's good food, they have a ****ton of menu options, and you get your food hot, consistent, and fast for a great price. They are among the very best in the country at what they do, and very few if any can replicate the experience. There is no reason not to be proud of it or not suggest it as a great place to go.

Perfectly said. When we visit Ames, we can’t avoid the freaking place because the kids have to go there. I’d rather eat somewhere else, but HP is obviously doing something right (it’s the cheese balls and ice cream). In my opinion, on an official visit, you go less for “that was the best piece of food I’ve ever eaten” and more for “that was good I’m really full”.

Mario is really quick. Here are some of the 1 on 1's from the Rivals Camp.

Thank you!

Tawfiq impressed as well.

And the Cayden Green in the video is a KC area OL(/Scheelhaase Special) that we’re recruiting, a junior along with SEP’s Kaidyn Proctor. Ranked just behind him.
