It's a 2 1/2-year late rebuttal by me, but as everyone should know, anything south of I-80 is already Missouri.
So Des Moines is the Capitol of Missouri?
Not quite . . . more like anything south of Indianola.

I spent an inordinate amount of time in the area SW of a line from Council Bluffs to Osceola. Though this is a generalization the area has a feel or identity to it as any in the state. Any that is not bad, though at times it could use a little understanding. And as far as "Hillbillism" goes South Central Iowa is more that.CW, you don't need to be an apologist for hillbillies just because you grew up with them.

Trees: the universal sign that we aren't rednecks.
cool storyJust a sidenote that my best friends at ISU were Northerners from Clear Lake and Traer, me the southern boy from Monroe. We both gave each other **** about our "accents", still do, and we are best friends today.
I only mentioned it because there has always been a superiority complex by some northern Iowa kids, for which reasons I'll never understand? That's their issue not mine.cool story
Don't blame him now for getting out of the **** storm that was cyclone football for the last three seasons.
What exactly was his reason for leaving again? It wasn't just homesickness, was it?
