Coaching Search Thread

My first choice if Campbell doesn't take a bunch of the staff with him would be to continue on from within his coaching tree and retain as many as possible. The program has been so laser focused with the way we do things that I don't think the culture and the way they do things would change with the right leader among them. We'd probably just be looking at some different strategies and level of aggression on the field.
I have a very hard time believing Campbell wouldn't take the vast majority of the staff with him.

Not saying you have to be smart to be a good football coach. But Entz always seemed like a big-time dumbass.
I think you do in today's world. There's so much more than just coaching football.

Your Woody Hayes and Bear Bryants of the world couldn't do it now.

One thing that really sucks is that even if we find someone who is a good coach it’s very likely that they will just move on a lot faster than Matt Campbell.

We had the ******* unicorn.

Here's my fear, being realistic where ISU stands in the NIL hierarchy. Even if the perfect hire is made, and the team is still rolling 3 years from now, what are the odds the new guy sticks around for 10 years like Campbell did?

My other fear is the 2026 roster is going to be awful compared to what we all thought a few days ago....

I thought Mouser would be more well liked around here as a potential candidate. Is it the play-calling? Maturity?

Whoever it is, the program has to keep building from here. It is not a foregone conclusion that ISU will forever be a stepping stone job. The current uncertainty in CFB is contributing here.

I don't see anybody on ISU's staff, other than Heacock, who is has the requisite experience and background to be a P4 head coach.
