Coach Nate Schmidt

Offense has prenveted TJ's program from taking that next step. They were notorious for these long pathetic scoring droughts in TJ's first few 4 years. A lot of 4 minute plus scoring droughts. But each year, that issue got better. This year, for the most part it has been a non issue. Last night, it was the issue, especially in the first half. Self had us well scouted, we were not ready. He had us well scouted on the other side of the ball as well. Combine that with a team that is a wounded dog backed into a corner, it was the perfect storm. KU needed this game and played it with their hair on fire. But at this point, and after everything we have done this season, there is not cause for alarm about our offense. My hope is that our offense is good enough to avoid going into our quentessential scoring droughts in March. We need to win 4 games to get to the final 4. One of those teams will solve our defense, and we are going to probably have to outscore someone to advance.

It was more than a little frustrating watching the ball get stolen while he continued to pound the rock with a double or sometimes a triple team.

His decision making since the Purdue game has not been good. He has consistently dribbled into double teams resulting in turnovers and he has not been passing to the open man. Last night he had Batemon open to his left beyond the 3 line and he chose to drive to the hole instead of hitting Batemon who was out best offensive weapon last night (5/9, 2/5-3pt). Jefferson went 4/14 and the low shooting % isn't just this game, it started with the Purdue. Makes one wonder if he's focusing on his draft prospects vs playing team ball, something I've posted before. He and the coaches need to identify in which situations he is not being effective and reduce those numbers.

I demand ISU go 38-0 and win the national title every year. NO EXCUSES.

Seriously, just get the ball moving (reversing the ball for example) like KU did, and things will look much better. I read that ISU was "sped up" or whatever, but I think there was too much standing around, not enough spacing, and not enough passing -- leading to players putting their heads down and trying to dribble into 4 defenders.
