I actually think he'll do OK there. Now, he will be fired within 4 years most likely but it won't be the disaster of a hire the Auburn fans think.

I agree with this. He won't be a lifer, but he'll be decent for a bit. Auburn's a strong enough program that he won't be able to drag it down all the way on his own.

Chiz will do well because of the league. He is within he comfort zone in the SEC. Face it, except for Florida nobody has a high powered offense like so many do in the B12.

His style of defense will work there because of that. And that's why Rhoads will do well at ISU. He did mention the need for a strong offense to win games.

I gave him 3 years just b/c I think he will lose to Bama 3 years in a row and that right there will kill his coaching career at Auburn.

I give him 3 years. Maybe 4. He won't drag the program down on his own, but Auburn is a program that will be controlled by a bunch of meddling boosters who will micromanage the staff and interfere with recruiting if left unchecked. Terry Bowden tried to stand up to them and was run off. Tommy Tuberville worked with/around them well enough to last 10 years (although his staff turnover was not all his own doing). He also outsmarted them with his contract renegotiations after their bungled attempt to hire Bobby Petrino. Chizik is not strong enough to keep their hands off and his status of being their 32nd choice (or whatever) for the job isn't going to help. It will be no surprise to see an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations or player compensation (i.e. high pay, no show jobs for top players) by his 2nd or 3rd year.

Chiz will last two years at Auburn. I saw more bad coaching in the last two years than I saw in all of Dan's tenure. Who remembers the last three seconds of the Colorado game. That's situational and the team looked completely clueless. I'll put that on the coaches. Auburn won't listen to a bunch of crap like the cupboards bare or the players are below him and would have to play up to his wonderful coaching. I think it's going to be a sunny day when Chiz has to swallow that swolen ego of his. Two years in and he's replacing his offensive and defensive coordinator who he hand picked. Don't get me started on what a ****** bag that guy was.

He maybe a good coach but it didnt show on game day. Auburn just ran off a coach that went 13-0 in the SEC a few years ago, do you think they will be happy with 8-5 every year.

Auburn was already starting to decline before Chiz got there. He is not only disliked by his own fan base. Most of the other SEC folks I've talked with down here dont get it and have ZERO respect for Chiz (Including a high level booster from Bama and another from Georgia).

His poor reputation combined with a sliding program will make it very hard for him to recruit or win. His only ace in the hole is that Pat Dye and a single HUGE booster want him.

7-8 wins dont cut it for this fan base so a couple of years of that will make it very tough for him. I give it 3 max. On the other hand, if he figures out how to win 9-10 early, he might survive.

I give him two years. It's pretty rare to see so little support for a new coach, and he will be living in a fish bowl the whole time. Even those who are jumping on the bandwagon are doing so due to loyalty to the school, and as soon as they start seeing some bonehead playcalling and lack of organization, they will jump right back off. The only thing that can save him is if he can hire some outstanding coordinators.

I think that the good old "cheese dip" Chezike will last 3 years and then get fired for losing to Bama 4 three consecutive years!!!!

U-Talk about easy pickings the good old "cheese dip" is the worst game day coach in the history of football!!!!

"the most underprepared ill fitting coach ever at ISU"...quoting anonymouse fan

My brother in law is an Auburn grad and I am currently spending a few days with my sister and him for the holidays. His claim is that Chiz will get ample time because Lowder and Auburn's prez really like him. In addition, they don't have much of a choice than to stick with him for a while. Also, my brother in law pretty much confirmed that Chiz has essentially no decision-making authority at all - his staff, etc will be hired FOR him, no BY him. So, in reality, he is not really a head coach as much as he is a 'puppet' for Lowder to control. Funny when you think about it.

I'll give Chiz 3 years, the AD will be fired after the 2nd year, and the new AD will fire him after year 3. Unless something magically changes for him and his staff, I don't see him competing with Bama, LSU, Arkansas, and Ole Miss over the next 3 years in the SEC East, and I can't imagine him getting much rebuild time there, especially when Bama is sitting top 5 the next 3 years.

Yep, I've heard the same thing. And once Lowder starts meddling in recruiting (which he has loved to do in the past) and brings about an NCAA investigation and sanctions, guess who will take the fall? Chizzlestick, of course.

I think he will be successful because fate likes to ***** slap us.
