I would think locality would play a role in Custer's next college destination. I would guess Kansas, Oklahoma area...

Not too surprised. Maybe a little disappointed but mostly because it just highlights the failure in the last class and upcoming class to include any impact HS kids that can contribute. None this year now. None committed for 2015 or 2016. We could be pretty good next year but than fall way back. Our core group is made of HS guys with Niang, Long and Morris but there are literally no HS replacements in the pipeline for them.

Is there really a difference between a 4 year HS guy and a RS+3 year transfer guy like Cooke?

Absolutely. With a HS kid, you don't know how well he will adjust to the college game. With a RS+3 transfer, you've seen how well he can play vs. college level competition.

Of course, if you land a McD's AA out of high school, that can boost the visibility fo the program substantially and open up the door for more blue chip recruits.

I have not read all the post in this thread...

My thought on this is, since he is transferring he will have to redshirt, to bad he just didn't/couldn't do that here. Then he would of had 2 yrs as the starter after Monte or 3 yrs if Monte goes pro after his junior season.

From what little we saw of his game, I thought he was going to be a great player.

Well, Good Luck Clayton hope you transfer to a school I can root for.

I would love to see him at UNI, what with them losing 5 or 6 seniors this year. Although I suppose Fred wouldn't allow it, considering we play them a couple more times during Clayton's remaining.

Maybe it's just because I believe Hoiberg genuinely cares for his players, but I'd be surprised by this. I assume The staff doesn't feel burned by Custer in any way.

Will be interesting to see If Coach restricts his destinations at all though, as he's more likely to get D1 interest than the other transfer-outs.

And its more than likely, local interest. I'd think any of the Mo Valley schools would be an option, as well as Creighton.

Has Fred has more HS recruits transfer than stick around? Seems like its even at the very least. Sledge, Okoro, Gibson, SDW, CC...anyone else? Naz and Georges will be the first to complete their eligibility right? Thomas and Morris are the only other 2 right?

This one saddens me. Seemed like a great kid and one of those guys other teams just can't stand. Would've been interesting to see how he would've done sans mono this year. I bet he ends up at either Pittsburgh, WSU, Mizzou, or maybe Duquesne. Best of luck to him.

Cooke has been sitting for a year post surgery. Nothing guaranteed with him.

Kevin Ware played 28 minutes a game this year. Just some poop for thought for all the posters I see peeing a little bit about Cooke and Williams having offseason surgeries.
