If you could choose would you rather:
1. Have Lucca declared eligible for the season.
or
2. Have the football team win the last 3 games.

Very tough question.

Lucca would be a key player on a team that i saw winning about 19 or os games with him. That could be good enough for the NIT.

Winning the last 3 games in football would energize the whole fan base like no other heading into next year. Season tix would probably increase again(more $$$). Some of our top recruiting targets would give ISU another look based on miraculous improvement during the span of 12 games.

It is possible to get into the big dance, but unlikely.
In football it would provide a much needed financial boost that would benefit the entire athletic program. SO i guess i would have to say "Win the last 3 games in football... final answer".

I choose the one that is less likely: Winning out in FB. To win against KSU and CU will be very hard, and a sign that the team has truely improved. A win at Kansas looks completely out of reach for this team, and would be an amazing boost to the cash cow of the whole sports program.

I want Lucca back. Of course I want us to win the last 3 games of the football season, too, but the football season is pretty much a wash at this point. If we were honest with ourselves, we all knew this was going to be a foundation-building year under the new coaching staff. Three wins doesn't change that. I'm already looking to next year and the year beyond that in football.

The basketball team, on the other hand, has some potential to be competitive -- perhaps even really good -- this year. Lucca could make a huge difference to the team's success, possibly the difference between making the postseason and staying home in March. Free Lucca! :realmad:

Simple question. The return of Lucca, simply because it was the wrong decision out side of our control and now one person, Lucca, has to carry the burden.

He deserves the opportunity to play. Period.

Losing some football games is one thing, but taking away a person's right to compete when he followed all the rules is a totally different issue. Can't compare in my opinion.

The football season is done. Yeah, I know...3 wins to finish the year would be great...momentum for next year, etc. But how long does momentum really last? I'm thinking in the grand scheme of things...not very long.

I'd take Lucca being able to play, because I really think if he can't - he's gone.

Lucca means more to the long-term success of the basketball program than two more wins means to the long-term success of the football program. The football team has done what they needed to this year, improve and compete. Give me Lucca.

Ok, let's actually poll this sucker...

Polls up - and you'll be held accountable for your answer (it's public)

I choose Lucca - this could be a special season for the MBB team, while 5 years from now no one will remember much from this football season except in passing chuckle and "look where we were..."

Plus, if Lucca returns, that means the NCAA had to admit they're... ahem, ahem... WRONG!!! So I'm dying to see that.

Gotta go with Lucca. He was wronged personally, as well as it wronging our team. I will root for the football team (as always!), and the 3 games might help recruiting, but if we can get to the postseason in basketball with Lucca, we need him more.

And the personal wrong he has endured here really ticks me off.

The momentum from Chizik's hiring lasted for about 8 months. A three game winning streak would ensure a new season ticket record. And the football season isn't done. We have some unfinished business down in Kansas to take care of.

My thoughts as well. Season tickets would likely sell out.

PS: How does a public poll work? I am not able to see who voted on what?

I totally want Lucca back.

However, I think for the long-term success of Iowa State Athletics in general, we need football success, so any momentum we can get at all is a great thing that will carry over to all other sports.

I'll take the 3 football wins to finish the season strong.

Click on the number of voters in the poll at the top. It will open a new window that shows who voted for what...

That's a really tough choice and after some thought I went with the 3 wins mostly because it should boost recruiting even more. The momentum of winning late in the season would carry over into next year keeping enthusiasm on a positive note.

Still tough though....Lucca is also huge to the BB program. Call it selfish but it may have more to do with the fact that I love FB more than BB.

I would echo this sentiment. Our football team controls its own destiny. Lucca is just plain getting screwed.

Getting 3 more wins would be great, but the NCAA messing with the career of a kid really ************* #($*#&@*@* $()#*@*@ me off. I vote that Lucca.
