Chips are falling

Is Texas in the current Big 12 an easier path to the title than Alabama in the current SEC? Personally I think so. That said, Alabama is already rolling while Texas has some building to do.

Honestly, how long would it take Saban to "rebuild" Texas. A year?

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention to the college football world lately but they're starting the playoff system next year. If you think a one loss Texas is missing out on that I've got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

I'm aware of the playoff system next year - that was considered in my post.

It all depends on how many undefeated and one loss teams there in the country.

With everyone so in love with the SEC, Ohio State, Oregon State, etc. - a one loss Texas could miss out to other one loss teams. The national media influences this and they are not impressed with Big 12 football right now.

University of Texas Ready to Make Nick Saban Huge Offer

Will Texas be looking for a new coach by the end of this College Football season. You bet, and maybe even sooner. Here’s what our source tells us about who they’ll try to replace Mack Brown with, “Texas would offer Saban 10 million a year, plus he’d also receive 2 million a year from the Long Horns Network. They’re going to go after Saban hard” said our Texas Insider. You have to admit, Saban in Texas would be pretty hard to beat.-TO

Probably two.

Ego might play a role here also - while NS has a "NC machine" right now at 'Bama, his ego might want to prove that he can do it again somewhere else - in that case, Texas would be a perfect spot.

It all comes down to what motivates Nick Saban - money, winning, or ego.

Can you honestly see Saban leaving 'Bama?

I can't.

Now, Mack leaving Texas - that I can see. Involuntarily, of course.

How can you not see Saban leaving? Do you think he gives a flip about loyalty? Texas will be able to offer him more then any other college football team can.

I don't care about the money Texas has because Bama boosters will step up to keep him there. On top of that why would you take a step down from the SEC to the Big 12 and have to rebuild a program when you have a Dynasty rolling in the far & away best football conference.

Money and new challenge - never say never.

Exactly. Saban is nothing if not restless.

'Bama has to be getting old hat for him, and Texas could give him untold riches that even Bama can't match. Throw in Texas talent, and the fact that he could be the guy to rebuild BOTH Alabama and Texas, and I don't really see any way he turns it down.

Greed and love of a challenge.

Two traits that are well-known among college coaches.

Saban strikes me as the type of person who gets bored easily. As strange as it sounds, winning a championship every year at Alabama would get boring for him.

I wouldn't mind getting bored once or twice.

The fact that its even a possibility that Alabama could lose their coach to another college team is crazy to me. Alabama is the biggest dynasty that I can remember right now. Not saying it won't happen (I think it might), but its just crazy.

I absolutely believe it. If you are Texas, you have to go after #1. And to me, they have the resources to go BIG! If I were them, offer 10 million and offer a raise to every assistant they have. Think about this, Saban would have access to all Texas talent plus all the SEC talent he has always had. Top notch facilities and anything else he would want. He could make a dynasty there that would be leagues ahead of what Alabama is if he wants to.
But having something great now, who knows if he would leave that.

Need to be undefeated in Big 12 to get to the NC game. Can do it with one loss in the SEC because of the level of competition.

Probably not a popular thought on this board, but reality.

Unless you're Texas or OU. They'd get SEC type respect if it came down to it. No one else in our conference would, but those 2 schools would.
