Chips are falling

Can you honestly see Saban leaving 'Bama?

I can't.

Now, Mack leaving Texas - that I can see. Involuntarily, of course.

I don't see Saban having loyalty to Alabama. It will be if Texas offers enough, Alabama doesn't counter with enough, and if Saban thinks he can win in Texas.

With Saban I don't think it is about loyalty to a university - it is about where can he win national championships. Right now there is no better place than 'Bama to do that.

Please please please please please don't fire Mack until AFTER we upset them on 10/3. I don't want another Colorado incident. :realmad:

It all depends on what comes from the paying players accusations that seem to have already been swept under the rug. If something happens he will be gone, but if he can cheat and get away with it at Alabama then he will stay put.

Nick Saban would have no problem winning a national title at Texas.

Frankly I think he could have the same type of success at either school. If the money is about the same he'd probably stay just because it wouldn't be worth the hassle. If it's an extra 4 million a year though?

Nick Saban getting hired at Texas is probably A&Ms worst nightmare in their quest for state superiority.

Is Texas in the current Big 12 an easier path to the title than Alabama in the current SEC? Personally I think so. That said, Alabama is already rolling while Texas has some building to do.

Need to be undefeated in Big 12 to get to the NC game. Can do it with one loss in the SEC because of the level of competition.

Probably not a popular thought on this board, but reality.

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention to the college football world lately but they're starting the playoff system next year. If you think a one loss Texas is missing out on that I've got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

Texas most robust athletic department as revenues climb across the country - CBSSports.com

I realize the numbers are from 2011, but Bama was #3 behind Texas and tOSU in Revenue, but actually had more profit than Texas because their costs were much smaller. I don't think Texas has that much more financial ability than Bama does.

The latest 2012 data:

UT Revenue: $163,295,114; Expenses: $129,234,974; Revenue: $34,060,140
Alabama: Revenue: $124,129,127; Expenses: $101,502,145; Revenue:$25,848,588

What would UT be spending all that extra $28 million? Probably some of it is FB facilities. UT is in fine shape to attempt to lure Saban away if that's the direction they want to go.
