Chips are falling

I have no idea whether he would or would not move, but if this were to happen the next days Paul Finebaum show would be epic. Listening to all the redneck meth head Bama fans come on and go nuts would be great. It may even top the Iowa Soundoff after a big loss.

Texas hiring Saban would be a lot bigger headache for bob stoops and Oklahoma than aTm, thee okies are not going to like Losing to the Longhorns every year.....

Here's my guess on the UT situation. Brown stays as head coach for the remainder of the season after which DeLoss Dodds retires. After an extensive search, UT admin. hires a new AD (not JP). Coach Brown is asked to step down, then is fired after refusing. UT then goes after Nick Saban. UT and 'Bama get into a bidding war for Saban. UT backs out seeing that getting Saban will be too expensive. UT then goes after Gundy, then Sumlin, but OSU and aTm successfully fend off UT's coaching grab. The UT coaching search committee then goes on a nationwide search for choice #4. During that search, Kirk Ferentz is mentioned as being "on UT's radar." Not that I want Ferentz to leave the Fighting Goldfinches (AKA Hawkeyes), but think of what KF could do with UT's resources. UT settles on choice #4 and he becomes their new football head coach.

To those who are afraid UT will get JP: I don't think he would accept the job. It wouldn't be a good fit for him -- not enough for him to do, and he'd be bored to death. Someone similar to BVD would be a better fit IMO --an accountant and CEO, but must be good with the press which leaves BVD out of the equation.

Remember this is pure speculation with no facts to back my statements, but it's fum to do.

Should this happen, more than couches would burn in Austin...I'm thinking the capitol itself would go down.

No way he leaves Bama for Texas. All he has to do is go 1-1 against A&M and LSU to get to the SEC title game. Of course they'll be ranked in the top 5 as they win four weak non-con home games and the the other powers of the mighty SEC West like Kentucky, Vandy, Tenn., and the two Miss. schools. This is the beauty of their schedule. No Florida, Georgia or USC in the regular season.

Whereas, in the Big XII, he'd have to play all the teams in the conference. The top tier teams, the good teams, and even the bottom teams. He may make more money at Texas, however, because of the ease of their path to the SEC title game, he'll have a much easier route to the National Title game. Plus they pay their players better in the SEC.

At first I thought there was no way he goes and it was just a bargaining tactic. But at Bama right now if he doesn't win a title it's a bad season. He's made it to the title game by the skin of his teeth twice (once thanks to ISU). Money will be ridiculous either way, recruiting will be great either way. If he turns UT into a multi-year national champ he can really cement himself as THE college football coach of the modern era without rival. When you've got an ego like Saban it's hard to predict. He might be ready for a new challenge.

The snorting contests between KF and Bevo would be terrific.

Also, a resemblance:
