Chase was back in Austin this morning and told one of my co-workers that he will be reporting to Navarro today and "hopes" to make it up to ISU in January.

I hope he gets his stuff together and makes it, but he definitely will not be a member of this years team in any form.

Man I hope he can make it. I think he'd be great.

Grades. If I have it correctly, he didn't qualify, took the test again, made it bu improved too much, appealed that decision, retook the test one on one with a test supervisor, then didn't do well enough to confirm the qualifying score. That's the gist of what I got from the explanation, anyway.

If you have a certain jump between tests (more than two points on the ACT, I think), they disqualify you assuming that you must have cheated. Rather, of course, than simply concentrating for a change.

However, it appears now that Chase is grayshirting, going part time to Navarro JC and hoping to enroll at ISU in January. So I must have missed something somewhere.

^^^90% sheer guesswork.

At least he is gray shirting and not just enrolling in JC. If he is as good as some think he is, he could really blow up after two years of JC.

I'd happily have him blow up. Especially with Darius still here, I think he'd still come.

If he wasn't a qualifier out of high school, and if he was he would be here, he can't come to ISU until he finishes his juco degree.

Hopefully Chase makes it....he has a chance to be a "what coulda been" if he doesn't.

One of those guys that never makes it to campus and then 4 years later he is spotted playing for another college team or on an NFL team.

Different situation though, because as I understand it he has qualifying grades but not a qualifying test score. I think there are different rules regarding that.

I think that you are correct. If he can get a confirming test score yet this fall, he should be good to go in January. If not, he probably stays at the Juco for 2 years. The only issue is that the LOI signed in Feb is no longer valid so his recruitment is open again. Might not be a problem as he seems determined to enroll at ISU.

I haven't responded to any of the speculation concerning Chase because I have been a little disappointed with the out come concerning Chase grades his test scores and the entity that governs SAT scoring.

Chase is at Navarro and doing well he has not played yet due to him starting late and the inevitable catch up time he has to endure. PT time will be plenty soon. His position is at it was in high school; Chase will be lined up all over the field. Navarro is currently number 2 in the country and they are very happy to have Chase for whatever time they can keep him.

Yes the recruiting process starts over and Chase still intends to attend Iowa State.

His clock will not start and he can't play this year (without a waiver) if he isn't a fulltime student. It would not be in ISU's interest for him to play at all at the JC.

During his Sept. 15 Monday night radio call-in show, Chizik was asked a direct question about Chase Harper's status.

Gene said that the plan is for Chase to enroll at ISU in January, giving him "5-1/2 years to play 4." (Gene's words, not my conclusion.) There we have it from the head man.

Gene also said that Chase will have several opportunities this fall to earn a passing test grade. Gene did not mention that Chase was enrolled in a junior college.

Chase has not played a down of football and may redshirt and concentrate on basketball. Which could give him 4 years eligibility for football

That would be pretty cool, if he were able to get to ISU next year with 4 to play. That would be great.
