Cardinals?

For not having won a WS for a Century now, the Cubs fans I hear on the radio here in DSM are doing an awful lot of woofing about winning it all this year. Here's to another century of misery, Go Cards!

That's really not any different than what Cubs fans were saying last year, and the year before, and the year before, etc. In fact, they've been saying that since 1908, and have been disappointed every time.

Go Redbirds! I'm just pissed they let go of Soooooooooooooooooooo Taguchi!

Huge Cards fan here. I was so happy when the gave Taguchi the hook. Yes, he was a fan favorite, he hustled and worked his a** off. But he didn't do very much for the team statistically. He wouldn't start at AAA in any other organization. You can probably say that for a lot of the Cardinals players. I've been a fan since I was in middle school. I try to make it to St. Louis once a year for a game.

I love the fact that here in Ames (with Mediacom, at least) you get almost every single Cards game. FSN carries 130, KWKB gets about 20 and the rest are ESPN/FOX Saturday baseball. I feel for the Twins/Cubs/Royals fans who are just as close to their team, but can't see them play every night during the summer.

"I meet MANY more people wearing Cards gear that know NOTHING about baseball in general let alone their team in Des Moines." I post this quote to prove a point. THE CARDS DO NOT HAVE A TEAM IN DES MOINES That's the cubs. Absolutely typical of Cub fans. And then have the audacity to suggest that Cards fans know nothing about baseball. It's common knowledge in the world of baseball that the StL Cardinal fans are the most knowledgable in the known world. A lot of Harry Carray's ignorance and arrogrance rubbed off on Cub fans over the years. They mostly resemble Hawkeyes.

This whole "we know a lot about baseball and you don't" schtick is pretty funny.

My daddy know more about baseball than your daddy!

I generally find the "Cardinals fans are the most knowledgeable baseball fans" label to be pretty elitist, and I am not really sure where it came from. I give it about as much weight as I give the "Nebraska fans are the classiest football fans" myth (which we can all agree is a load). There are plenty of idiot Cardinals fans, just as there are plenty of idiot fans in every fanbase.

Die hard Twins fan here since they relocated from DC just as I was old enough to follow pro sports.

Cardinals, however, have always been my NL or secondary team of choice. Primarily because of an uncle being an avid STL fan. He treated us as a family to our 1st major league game. Hard to believe, but it was at two generations removed of Busch Stadiums. My uncle proceeded to share his hero worship of Stan the Man with us. My little sister piped up, "we know him, he's on TV all the time". After the laughter died down, we informed our uncle that our local TV weather guru was indeed "Stan the Weatherman".

Yeah, I get sick of the "knowledgeable" comment every single time they're on t.v. Who made up that scale? Joe Buck??

The Cubs have recently started spending some of the $$ they've been stockpiling so I think that's why you're hearing more "woofing" lately. I really didn't hear much back in the 90's...you guys really did?

That is the beauty of baseball... Hope springs ETERNAL.

Every team has a chance right now... And every team should have their sites set on the post season... Well except for the Devil Rays.

Anyways... I will be the first to admit that I don't like the Cards. However, I never put down a fan base like many here are dumping on Cubs fans.

I will joke with people who are fans of my rival team, but I don't hold any animosity towards them.

After all... it is just a game... Can't we all just get along?

Now, when the Cubs win it all... Then you won't ever shut me up.:biglaugh:

so cardinal fans. enjoy being mediocore, or not good this year, while us cubs fans will be enjoying october. but its alright i understand. the cubs are taking a step forward and the cards have takin 3 steps back.

Cardinal's rule. Forget the Cubs like they've forgotten how to win a Series. GO CARDS!!!

We've owned the cardinals the last couple season's in heads up play...yes you won a world series but we won the season series i believe

go cubs go, go cubs go, hey chicago whadaya say, the cubs are gonna win today

I'm not here to bash Cubs fans or the Cubs beyond anything in a joking manner. I guess you could say that I'm just not that sort of fan--I can respect the success that the Cubs have had, but I just can't root for them. I can even get along with real Cubs fans who can hold a decent conversation about the game of baseball, it's the bandwagon fans that I can't stand. One of my roommates has the same dedication to the Cubs that I have to the Cards--ask us any day who the starting pitcher that day is, what the score was of the last game, who the next opponent is, how many games out of first we are, and both of us can tell you. And we're girls, which shocks tons of people. Two of my other roommates are bandwagon fans--it's the cool thing to do. I sorta give one a break because she's from "Chicago" (translation: Naperville), but last year I mentioned Lou Piniella's rant ("You're not playing tiddlywinks...") and she asked "Who?"....but I also realize that every team has these fans. You take the good with the bad. The dumb with the dumber. The smart with the genius.

I was born into a Red Sox family (uh....yuck...) but went to my first MLB game at Busch Stadium when I was four years old, because my grandma was the only one smart enough to be a Cardinals fan  and been hooked ever since.

Every Hawkeye fan I know is also a Cubs fan. That should tell you something!

That's because Iowa City is Chicago West...all the thugs migrate from chicago to Iowa city like all the latinos immigrate from mexico to marshalltown aka little mexico...i kid i kid

My uncle is a police officer in Iowa City and everytime we see him he is always griping about EIU and the amount of people coming from Chicago and bringing crime and trouble to Iowa city.
