BYU Game Thoughts:
-BYU ran a quarterback draw at the end the game up like ten points (what a head scratching play by the way). On the play Bachmeier was wincing in pain holding his arm. Something to keep an eye on, maybe it is nothing, could be something? Looked like he was hurting for sure.

ISU thoughts:
- If we can get Konrardy back that can give this team an emotional lift. I think we need that greatly, so we aren't lacking as much confidence over the 50 yard line. It absolutely effects offensive play calling in a bad way having him out.

- With the BYU game I am more worried about our defense than our offense. I will still submit that Kooper Ebel LB is our only play maker in the front 6 of our defense. We to my untrained eyes do not have any other defensive linemen or linebackers that can pressure opposing qb's, get sacks, force negative plays, etc.
We are 15th in the Big 12 in sacks (last). Also, for those that rush to "the defense isn't designed to do that"....
- We have 6 interceptions this year, which is also pretty mediocre and close to national average. If our base defense is to (on almost every down), rush 3 players, we have to be intercepting the football at a MUCH higher rate than that. In other words you cannot give opposing QBs 5 plus seconds to throw every down and stink at interceptions and sacks as a team defense.

On D the personnel needs to change next year, the scheme does, or both. Seeing the CU QB complete a 3rd and 17 to win the game last Saturday because our corners had to cover 5 seconds last week gave me indigestion. We need to put another guy's hand in the dirt with 4 down linemen, blitz more, or do something.

I watched a lot of football Saturday and saw exactly zero teams use the 3-3 for majority of the game. If the 3-3 stack was a competitive advantage, more teams would use it as their base.
On your 1st point: Bachmeier won't be the only one potentially banged up after the Utah game. It was a really physical game. How that ultimately plays out, we'll see.

ISU is actually favored in this game. To me, this is a good spot for ISU and a bad spot for BYU coming off the holy war. I think that his comes down to recovering from injuries. Rocco has been flat out bad these last few weeks and I think that he had a concussion. Dom Orange has been down and limped off the field so many times I’ve lost count. If we get those two back at 100% plus konrardy plus Hansen, we can definitely win. Make bachmeier beat us throwing the ball and shade a safety to Roberts. BYU is a physical team, but they are not explosive. They just win games. I think we can win if we’re healthy.

As I said in my original post. I think the defensive front 7 talent, OR the scheme needs to change next year.

If you watched Cincinnati and CU this year and think our front 7 talent is really good, then I can't help you.

Our LB and defensive line room are bottom quartile in the league. Outside of Kooper Ebel we have zero badasses right now.
And yet, for all of this horror, ISU's scoring defense is tied for 6th in the conference. The scoring offense, on the other hand, is 12th.

The 3rd and 17 wasn't on the CBs. Neal took two steps toward the LOS expecting run and let the receiver get behind him.

And it’s not the running game that’s an issue. It’s not even the protection. It’s the qb throwing accurate passes and the WRs making catches. If we had an early season Rocco, we win both of the last two games. He’s not been “a hair off”, he’s been flat out bad. Like teams are going to load the box and force Rocco to beat them with his arm because they don’t think he can do it bad.

Honestly, I thought they should have sat him vs CU and let him heal up.

Rocco isn't the problem:
