Unless he admitted to things that aren't illegal but are against student code of conduct?

If he had, surely the administrative law judge wouldntve found the case to be meritless.

Taking it to the Supreme Court might be the only way isu has to avoid a massive and embarrassing lawsuit

Re: Register Exclusive: ISU asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off men's basketball team

Ok, so if this is just the BOR and the AG bringing this up, then I fully expect Leath and JP to issue a statement that they don't support this decision by the BOR and the AG, right? I'll be waiting.

You know darn right that Leath and JP support taking this to the Supreme Court. What a complete mess. And it all could have been avoided too. If this isn't total incompetence, then I don't know what is?

I guess this explains the "gag order", huh? Leath and JP knew this day was coming, so they wouldn't allow anyone to talk about it at all.

People will mock this statement, but it is DEAD on.

Does everyone seriously understand how damaging this would be to future recruiting at ISU in all sports? What recruit would want to come here when Bubu comes out and tells the world how at ISU you can be falsely accused of something, have the charges dropped, have a judge side with you, and the school STILL won't let you play anymore.

Goodbye Fred! It was nice having you here for the short while you were.

I'd personally rather lose Fred than Rhoads or Pollard, but I'm definitely in the minority on that one.

Re: Register Exclusive: ISU asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off men's basketball team

The BOR is fighting for their rights and ISU's rights to kick someone off a team.

But, at the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, maybe Leath doesn't want to catch the wrath of Obama when he meets him at this...

...because Obama is today making campus sexual assault a national issue...
White House takes up fight against campus sexual assault - NBC Politics

I sure hope Bubu's case doesn't become the "poster" for the White House's agenda

Here comes the blame Obama crowd.

We could replace Rhoads a lot easier than Fred IMO. And normally I would agree with you on JP, but I'm not so sure anymore. I've ignored some of the stupid things he's done because the good far outweigh the bad, but this case here might just cause me to think he needs to go.

You really think CPR and the other coaches aren't sick about this? This mess will affect all ISU athletics. And if Fred leaves, who will take the job? ISU basketball will return to GMac days or worse if possible, and gut the whole athletic department. I wouldn't look for CPR to stick around with an administration that won't back their innocent athletes, even when the court orders them back on the field. You really would rather have Pollard instead of Fred? Are your initials JP?

Exact opposite for me, although I'd rather not lose any of them.

Ok I'll plead ignorant but if someone could enlighten me I would appreciate the answer to this question. How did Bubu violate THEE code of conduct when all charges were dismissed?

COC is not the same as law.

So now the Iowa Surpreme Court is involved. I bet they won't hear the case until the day after the National Championship in which somehow ISU miraculously wins the tournament only to find out the BOR had the authority and we forfeit all wins since Bubu joined the team.

I dont know how you could ever think that.

I generally really like all 3, but in order of who i want here most id go Hoiberg, Pollard, Rhoads. Hoiberg IS iowa state, Pollard has done some great things (though he's not perfect) and Rhoads, while he's a great guy, has yet to prove he can do any better than what we "resigned" DMac for, and has had exactly one winning season here.

Re: Register Exclusive: ISU asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off men's basketball team

The distraction of this is much worse than the benefit of adding Bubu.

A Supreme Court decision if they choose to get involved after reviewing the case could have national implications that could effect court cases at schools around the country, so this could become much bigger then ISU and unfortunately the distraction this is causing the basketball team.

Iowa Supreme court decisions arent going to have much effect outside state lines.

Register has already fixed headline:

Register Exclusive: State asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off ISU men's basketball team

Let's see if JP comes out with a statement that he doesn't want the BOR interfering with who and who can't be on the ISU basketball team.

The only answer to this is that BOR wants to make a stink so that a new precedent isn't set by some district attorney, who was angry at them for being incompetent in the handling of the case.

Fair enough, but I smell a rat.

Might as well go all in on wasting tax payer dollars for a case that was dropped. I've lost respect for ISU administrators.

From a precedent and policy perspective, ISU has no choice. This move was inevitable.

People are freaking out way too much over this. It's been completely botched, but we're not losing Hoiberg over this tiny issue.
