Re: Register Exclusive: ISU asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off men's basketball team

Leather and Pollard need to drop this ASAP

Isn't it the BOR that is bringing it to the Supreme court, not Leath and Pollard? I may not be getting how all these parties fit exactly. This is a very complicated case. You know, a lot of ins, lot of outs, lot of what have yous.

Leath and his advisors must feel like this embarrassment is worth avoiding breaking some deal they made with a special interest.

Just noticed title of thread is misleading. Again read the article it isn't ISU that appealed it is Board of Regents.

The distraction of this is much worse than the benefit of adding Bubu.

I really dont care whether bubu plays for us again but fully support him exercising his rights to the fullest, as with anyone else in the legal system.

Re: Register Exclusive: ISU asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off men's basketball team

What a joke! Talk about arrogance. The BOR, Leath, and JP can't even accept a judge's ruling and just let him play.

I'm beginning to think that Leath and JP need to go. Seriously. This never even had to get this far, and now they are going to take it even further and make it even uglier and become even more of a distraction.

I'm more on Bubu's side now than I was before in this matter. He fought for his rights and won.... and the big fat cats don't like it one bit. GO BUBU!!!!

Re: Register Exclusive: ISU asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off men's basketball team

I don't think I'll ever understand this. I'm not siding one way or another because honestly, I don't really care. But I thought it was always considered a priveledge, not a right to play on a squad. Can't you be removed for any reason, as long as your scholarship to school is still honored? He wasn't kicked out of school, right?

It's one thing for a player to look bad, but even worse for a university to look bad. Yep, you can be kicked off. And you as a player can take the university for court. And the university can look really stupid if they lose. And even more stupid if they take it to a higher court.

This is just crazy, let him play. He was never charged with anything, the victim was proven to have lied about her story. Just seems like it was all about PR from the beginning with Leath's decision.

there is something we don't know
Yeah, I'm interested in who specifically doesn't want him to play basketball and why more than anything.

So which big ISU donor is the accuser related to?

This is going to make national news and could hurt recruiting..only ISU.

He's been treated differently than other athletes under the same circumstances, and it's easily arguable that Albert Gary's situation was much more serious. Everybody has a right to seek justice. ISU is digging in and this is going to end very badly.

The university has made this personal rather than objective at this point

Yes but first off that isn't the case here. It also should be up to the athletic department not the president.

For the people saying it isn't ISU I find it hard to believe they aren't also involved. If they aren't then they need to say while we disagree with the decision of the court we oppose appealing the stay.

Well maybe if the BOR had fulfilled their duties as a venue for appeal as opposed to just being a rubber stamp (as they were called out for by the judge) the judge would have had a couple less reasons for issuing the stay.

What are the odds that Bubu gets "disappeared?"

Re: Register Exclusive: ISU asks Supreme Court to keep Palo off men's basketball team

It isn't the University that is appealing this. It isn't Leath nor Jamie P. It is the Attorney General who is appealing on behalf of the Board of Regents. Doesn't change the team distraction impact, but we can lay of the comments attacking the ISU admin.

Thanks for clarifying (and no thanks to the Register for the misleading title).
