Breakout player prediction

Is Xavier really that fast? I haven’t heard his name come up when people talk about the fastest guys on the team. Eskildsen seems to overwhelmingly be considered the fastest guy on the team.

Not saying X isn’t fast, just hadn’t heard that. I hope he is obviously.
His speed and shiftiness are his best traits. When he originally committed here out of HS, he was thought to be a RB. Gives you an idea of his versatility.

I heard Townsend was the most electric player on the team. Maybe that combines agility and acceleration, and not just strait 40 time.

The reason that you haven’t heard it much is that there aren’t documented track results to support it.

Xavier ran an 11.18 100m as a junior, then didn’t run as a senior—perhaps enrolled early?

Similar with Ryver Peppers, who was on campus instead of running track. Kids usually make a decent jump year to year.

Without looking, I don’t think Jaylin Noel ever broke 11.0 either, but that because he didn’t run track after his sophomore(?) year.

We saw how that turned out.

And absolutely everyone keeps calling (the new) X “explosive”.

The real reason you haven’t really heard it much is because he got seriously hurt in spring ball and has been rehabbing since

Kai Black huh? Now there’s a name I haven’t heard anyone mention this entire offseason. He’s at TE, right? That would surely be a HUGE surprise if he were to see the field at all IMO. That position goes about 5-6 deep.

Flora, Eskildsen and Overby are the fastest guys on the team.

Townsend, unfortunately, is one of the slower receivers on the team.

Came in as a WR. he has my pick for obscure player nobody mentions that starts to get run late season, ala Carson brown last year

Gabe Burkle.
I'm extremely biased because he is a family friend, but with a healthy Brahmer attracting a lot of attention, I expect Gabe's growth from the late season last year to continue in a big way.

I used to referee basketball with Gabe's dad, who played football for UNI and grew up a huge Hawkeye fan. Watching his conversion to being ALL IN with the Cyclones has been glorious.

That’s kinda what I thought about X, but wasn’t sure, so I didn’t want to say it. But you don’t have to be a burner to be a great WR…. Jerry Rice proved that.
