Brats! Summer grilling.

My local meat market makes some pretty good brats. I love their jalapeno and pepper jack. Can't go wrong with the cheddar either. They make an apple and sauerkraut one too, which isn't bad. For condiments I use either Koop's Dusseldorf mustard or spicy brown mustard and then sauerkraut.

Also love Usinger's, it's just not summer without them.

I know someone that puts ranch on their brats. I know it's Wisconsin and we put ranch on everything, but ranch on a brat is crossing a line.

What your favorite? How do you prepare them? What condiments, buns or even sides are mandatory?
Onions sautéed in butter, then pour in beer after onions are done and just pour a huge amount on brat and bun.

I'm not a brat fan, but I will put in a plug for the locker in Edgewood. Never been there, but have heard about their blueberry maple brat (as told by the Iowa Gallivant).

Wouldja look at what all else they have????

Regular brat boiled in beer with onions then finished on the grill. On a bun with onions, sauerkraut, and spicy mustard

Know wonder those Casey's toilets have that destroyed look.
I live in Wisconsin. That’s pretty standard brat setup for many. The land of beer and bratwurst lol

Really liked the smoked brats from Lewrights in Eagle Grove. But they have closed for good after a fire. Just discovered Edgewood brats this year and they are a fine replacement.

Say what and where?

I know Fareway carries them.

Plain brat patties from fareway, smoked. Toasted bun, sweet onion, tomato, pickles, mustard, maybe some mayo or ketchup. Divine.
Put some crushed pineapple, drained, on them along w/onion, pickles & BBQ sauce. You’ll never go without that combo again.

Fareway has apple brats at the meat counter that are amazing

Years ago at a KC Chiefs game the tailgate next to us taught us how to make some great beer brats and kraut. They would put a pan on the grill and use a beer that had some body to it like a heavy lager. You basically saute the brats in the pan with the beer and gradually turn them as the beer caramelized onto the brat. One the brats are cooked sit them off to the side, add a little more beer to the pan if needed and throw some onions and kraut into the pan and cook it with the caramelized beer and juices left from the brats then lightly toast the buns. Was some goodness as that caramelized beer on the brats added some nice flavor. Most of the time you can't even taste the beer in beer brats but you could with these.

I tried cooking some in my apartment that winter on the stove top and would not recommend unless you want your place to stink of beer and kraut for a day. Definitely something you want to do outdoors when you cook them that way.
