Ill reiterate what has already been said, thank you Brandon Jensen. As for Irving and Coe, if they were truly disrespectful to coaches and a cancer in the locker room, then good riddance.

I don't know.
When you look at who was going to surplant him - Coe had 37 tackles and 0 sacks. Irving had 19 and 2 sacks.
Is a NG expected to have the tackles of DT, DEs?
(Wow - we only had 15 sacks the entire season. Just 15?)
You do not understand how that position works I take it?
Was Coe the guy in the black tank top? He was looking all friendly with lots of players, but stayed pretty much on the end of the sideline. I thought it was a former player, but couldn't see him well enough to know who, and never even thought it might be Coe.
I bet he was asked to come back. Great news either way
Am I the only one who realized that he only had 18 tackles and one sack last year? Those are terrible numbers for a guy who started every game. He is a mediocre player. We will still suck.
No. The NG is there to eat up space and take on as many blockers as possible.
Orrr he does... 18 tackles for a starting DT is not saying much.
Of course a defensive tackle isn't going to be racking up the stats. That's not how defenses are designed, but no matter what way you slice it 18 isn't anything to write home about.
Regardless, it's an experienced body and he adds much needed depth.
"During his senior campaign,Ahtyba Rubin played in all of the Cyclones' games, registering 42 tackles (with four for loss) and recording 1.5 sacks."
A starter in the NFL only had 42 tackles in his senior season, this will be Jensen's senior season, thats just some perspective on the position.

I think we see Jensen at 3-tech as well this year in some situations, he can do both and isn't really a true nose tackle in the way that Cousin is.
Are you serious? How many 5th year seniors want to be 4th or 5th string at defensive tackle?
Cousin improved a ton and was going to overtake him and he is only a sophomore.
It's not a coincidence that this happened after Coe and Irving left. You'd have to be blind to not see that.
42 is a heck of a lot more than 18. That was my point. And why compare him to an NFL guy? Just look at other NCAA teams starting DT. I already have. Trust me, 18 is below the average.
I went on to say in my post that regardless of his stats this is a big addition. His experience alone is huge. Plus he's a big body. He doesn't have to get tackles to impact the game. If he can draw double teams and free up the LB's better than the guys who would have been playing in his place than the defense will be much better off.
There are 2 positions. At worst he would be second string even if behind the other 3. He plays both and while I know they had talked about running nascar sets on some passing downs they also talked about having Coe get the majority of snaps at the 3 tech to boost his NFL stock and Irving taking more snaps at end as well as 3 tech and nose for passing downs. Jenson would still have received the majority of snaps at nose and but it is conceivable had Irving and Coe both been here the snaps could have gone down. If that is your point fine. But it is inaccurate to say he would be 4th or 5th string. He would have been 1st or 2nd at nose and now will be 1st at nose or 3 tech.
I'm going to say this sarcastically before some dumbarse says it seriously:
"Considering this is pretty much the same thing as if Devron Moore comes back, I hope CPR also makes him be a walk-on"
Again, sarcastically, but you know sooner or later some moron would say it.
