I'll give you 1-2 players, but the "whole friggin' team" would not have been lottery picks after their first championship. They can thank the repeat for that. Blake Griffin at 14.7 pts & 9.1 reb/game after his freshman year is not a lottery pick. Zach Randolph wasn't a lottery pick but that comparison actually supports Brackins leaving as he played one year of college and bolted because he'd be a mid first round pick (#19).
If you want to parlay all that logic into Brackins staying for two more years and potentially passing up lottery money, you can keep living that dream.
Brackins is your only true scorer. When you play a tough defense he is the only real scoring threat. You are not going to have very many assist when your job is to score for the team. Why are you wanting him to come back if you think he is so bad?
True, but there is also a huge monetary difference between being selected late first round and being selected early first round.
That is just so false. There are a lot of idiots on this board. Craig makes quite a few passes out of the post in most games. Last night he made at least 2 pretty nice ones which then resulted in someone (I think Hamilton) biffing a layup. I think his passing ability is pretty good right now.
Actually that would support him leaving because he's also now made like 100 million dollars. Excellent choice by Randolph to get in earlier and thus get to his second contract earlier.
Rookie contracts are small beans in the NBA. Midlevel exemption is more than rookies make.
Why is everyone now so sure that Craig is a lottery pick? A lot could happen between now and then to help or hurt his stock including Portsmith or whatever its called.
Someone should put together an average of the top 5 NBA draft sites to see where they rank him. Might be something interesting to discusss after this brutal MBB season ends for ISU.

Why Brackins will stay...
There aren't many reasons to stay in college with possible first round money out there but I think he will stay because....
1) There are lots of talented big men (PF) eligible for this years draft. Guys like Griffin, Jordan Hill, Greg Monroe, Earl Clark, Pattrick Patterson, Dejuan Blair, James Johnson, Damion James, Dajuan Summers, Sam Young, Tyler Smith, Michael Washington, Taj Gibson that could all be first round picks. Even if Brackins plays 3/4 in the NBA, there is alot of talent out there right now at that position as well.
2) Talent upgrade. Petersen, Haluska, Thompson out. Colvin, Gilstrap in. Plus everybody else gets a year to mature.
3) I understand that Brackins knows a couple football recruits fairly well that we have from Palmdale, CA---don't know if its true or not.
4) The nation doesn't know alot about him. Even after the Kansas game, alot of people still don't know alot about him. Case and point, Digger Phelps calling him Chris Brackins TWICE
5) He would be the premier player in the league next year---Aldrich sucks...

Well, if Aldrich didn't shoot like a drunk Helen Keller or look completely awkward running the floor, then he might be a respectable player

I feel really confident Craig will be back for his junior year. His senior year is where I'm worried. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense for him to stay all 4 years, but MAYBE he wants to play with Colvin, Barnes and Ejim?

Seriously, this has been said here countless times. I think anyone with 1/10th of a brain (even select KSU fans) know there is a difference in money based on draft selection number.
That hasn't stopped countless of guys from departing early for the NBA.
Again, I ask, how many of you would be saying Craig should stay if he was playing for Tech, CU or someone of that caliber (other than ISU)?
Iowa State MBB needs him to stay and we would benefit much, much more from the relationship continuing, IMO. Craig has established himself as a Big 12 elite player and a major NBA prospect. Sure, he has many things to prove at this level - but it's up in the air if he could do that at Iowa State right now.

Anyway...everyone who is saying he would be stupid for coming back to ISU sound about as dumb as the people who are saying he isn't ready for the NBA. There are benefits to both scenarios for CB.
