That's always what the fans say, "he can stay and make more money the following year" because the fans want him to stay. I know, I'm guilty of it every year as a KU fan. But the truth is very few players stay and improve their stock. Actually it usually works the other way. They stay and lose the "potential" label and show more flaws in their game that the scouts counted on them improving. Brackins is a year older, if he stays there is going to be a lot expected out of him. Right now he can leave and be a first round pick and the scouts love his potential. It really comes down to the player. If the player loves college and would like to experience it one more year he has a better chance of staying. If he always wanted to play in the NBA as soon as he can, he's gone.
There are a lot of face-up shooters in the NBA who play PF with the way they spread the floor. He'll have his opportunities down low but I think he'll be shooting more jumpshots then than he does now.
The 4 in the NBA is rarely in the post. They spend most of their time in the short corner or high post IF their team has a true center. Since their are very few true centers these days you can see a PF spend most of the time in the post.

So last night I started referring to Craig as NBA. This amused me greatly. It probably did not amuse the people I was with or the people around me.
Anyway, it was amusing to watch NBA try to get that elusive 3 last night. You could just see the wheels turning in his head about making sure that the scouts saw that aspect of the game. Normally, I have a rule that I wish NBA followed (and usually he does), he can take a 3 once he has established his inside game. He gets to take 2 3's for every one he makes. For some reason, his 3's haven't been falling the last couple of games.
If I had access to NBA, I would tell him to think long and hard about going pro. He has proved this year that he is a really hard worker and is committed to improving his game (see his improved rebounding numbers). I think he could be making a LOT of money in 2 years in the NBA. I think that next year he would probably be making 40,000 in the D-league. I would also ask NBA Brackins what he was thinking last Saturday when he launched a 26 footer with over 8 seconds left in the game. After that game I would have packed NBA's bags and helped him sign up for the D-league.

If CB is projected to be a lottery pick this year I hope he goes pro. If not, I'd hope he stays because a first round pick can slip to the 2nd round and then what? I wouldn't go pro just because I'm told I'm a late first rounder. I've seen to many mistakes. Granted, if he needs the money and college isn't for him then leaving early becomes more attractive. From what I understand CB likes it at ISU quite a bit but I could be wrong.
I don't think he's ready yet but that's not really the criteria for early entry these days for various reasons.

Is this true? I'd be interested in some sources. Where in the first round? What if he slips to the 2nd? How screwed could he be if he does? If he's projected in the lottery or damn close I'd recommend he leae as well. If he's projected later in the 1st round I'd have to change my recommendation.

NBAdraft.net has him at #12 right now. They are generally pretty close... Most of the ones who have him lower don't even have an evaluation for him yet...

It's hard to say. Everybody had Chalmers going first round and he slipped to the second. But he still ended up signing first round money and is currently starting. Brackins has an NBA body and NBA tools. if he works, he will be in the league a long time.
I thought CB had an off night offensively. Beyond the easy dunks, his shot just didn't look good. The 3 ptr's he took were wayyy off the mark.
Don't get me wrong...he could go and play in the NBA after this year, but I'm pretty sure he'll be coming back one more year, if not 2.

I'd really like to hear a logical reason why CB would play two more years of college ball.
Simple: If we get a commitment from Barnes and Brackins wants to try and be a part of something.
So this is your scenario...Brackins passes up a guaranteed two year contract worth $1.75-$2M. That's if he's the number #30 pick which could very well be conservative. He then plays next year and becomes a potential lottery pick. Now he's going to pass on at least a guaranteed $4M contact to come back and play with Barnes, which likely isn't going to happen. The first step looks unlikely at this point and I'll be waiting to hear your examples of NBA lottery picks that choose not to declare for the draft
