Well said. He's got the tools, but he's really not all that efficient unless he's able to pin his man. His outside shot is better than last year, but still needs a lot of work. I'd rather seen him work on it during practice than hoisting it up nearly 10 times a game. This season is a waste and I'm certainly not going to blame CB for it. But we could have won a couple more games if CB stayed down low the whole game.

And even in the event that you're right (I don't doubt it. As many times as he tries, I'm sure it's worked at least once), there is no debating that it is a very inefficient part of his game. Most of the time, his "taking his man off the dribble" includes a shake and bake and a jumper that the other team will let him have any day that ends in Y.
And you already admitting that he has only done it "a couple times" confirms that he's not very good at it.
I will respectively disagree, there is alot more to a team than one guys shot selection.
call me crazy but i dont memorize every play craig does. I know he did it in the kansas game and a few others but ya he doesnt do it often but when he does its effective.
what do you want me to record the play, place it on youtube then put it on here for you.

You say he's a good outside shooter. Why don't the stats support that?
The only thing you can cite for Craig being effective outside is the Kansas game when he couldn't miss a shot. That's like saying Mike Cameron is an elite HR hitter because he hit 4 HR in a game one time. You're focusing on the exceptions and acting like they're the rules. He was poor from the outside tonight, he was poor from the outside against Kansas State, and the full body of work shows that he is not a very good player from the outside at this point in his career. He has the tools to be, but they're not there yet.
You're praising the ground he walks on because he is our best player. The things he does well, he does REALLY well. That doesn't mean he does everything well.
Just for the record, is there anything that you think he's not great at?
I know Baylor wasn't paying attention on that inbounds play, but that was disgusting.
When Dedric Willoughby was introduced at halftime during the K-State game they said that he was one of 4 Iowa State players ever to score 1000 points in his first 2 seasons.
Brackins is currently at 922, and we have at least 4 games left (3 season, 1 Big XII tourney).
He needs to average 19.5 points over the next 4 games and he'll hit it.

i dont watch just for circus acts but
he had some excellent dunks. One thing that is of concern is he is starting to chuck up a lot of outside shots again. Other than that it is amazing how his rebounding mindset has changed.

He had a good one the 1st time we played Missouri (there). Took his man off the dribble for a dunk.
His defense is so much better than it was--he is improving very quickly. I was very impressed when he got switched on the Jerrels (sp?) and defended him very well when he tried to take him to the basket.
One thing to keep in mind is that Craig CAN'T get in foul trouble so I think he is a little less aggressive than he would like to be. That being said, the light is going on and he is playing much better, altering shots and using his length/athleticism. Doing a good job keeping position usually as well.
